Damn, I wish I had a cheeseburger. I'm going after Fran's and Hill's. I don't know if anybody can match a Mighty Fine. It's organic as is P.Terry's. I should have tried the P.Terry's but I went after the Chicken. Nobody beats a Chick-fil-A in Chicken Sandwiches. Did you know that Chick fil A invented the boneless chicken sandwhich?

Chick-fil-A was one of my accounts years ago...one of the coolest corporate HQ's in Atlanta. Free chicken for all employees lol

That's so cruel. If you had ever visited a boneless chicken farm and watched the pathetic mutant boneless chickens wiggling around trying to move without bones, you'd never eat boneless chicken again.

To me, the really hard thing to find is good fries to go with the burger. Way too many cardboard shoestring style fries instead of good meaty thick fries. And none of that batter crap on the fries. If you want to sell french fries with batter on them, sell it, but don't call it "french fries," and make that an option, not the only choice. Batter really makes it nasty when they're done with less than fresh grease, overly greasy, and not hot enough.

I know from personal background, Short Stop (as least once upon a time) has the freshest, highest grade meat of all the local shops. Hotel/Restaurant Supply near Zach theater was their supplier and I handled their orders (once upon a time). The only one that matched them was the hamburger place on Riverside at the corner of Congress. I guess you know, Short Stop was started by the guy that had the hamburger place on Riverside with the crocodiles... forgot the name, had one on Airport at 51st too.

Not exactly their specialty, but the Bypass Burger at Pluckers is tastey. And appropriately named.

I forget where it is, but saw a food show one time that featured a place that serves a HUGE cheeseburger. It looked to be 12 inches across.

I haven't had a shortstop burger in forever!

And I don't think I've ever eaten a bad restaurant french fry. The worst fries are the ones I cook in the oven! Nothing makes those taste right

Seconds on Casino El Camino.

Add the Jackalope across the street as well. Abated many a hangover at those two places.

i referenced g&m steakhouse on the drag in another thread. they had great cheeseburgers. you had to have a thick skin to eat there because the staff playfully abused all the customers. any if you wanted to order a hamburger they would only do it if you ordered a cheeseburger with no cheese---if you just said "hamburger" they would ignore you.

when i was in chicago for the marathon a couple of years ago, i stumbled upon the billy goat tavern which was close to my hotel. they were made famous by the old saturday night live skit with john belushi and dan aykroyd. it was very cool to go in there and order a "cheesaburger and no pepsi, coke"
