What folks dont realize is, is that there are bad folks in every group or profession.
Defunding the police is already causing problems and will multiply fast. I back the Blue. And routinely buy Cops lunch or snacks when Im in a convenient store. Ive also bought vests for the canine officers.
You folks who bash the police are usually the first ones who call them!

But but but, do you agree with McCarthy, WD, or are you just reading headlines???
Seems like the latter.

Gaston, I'm confused by your post. You support those who breached the Capital January 6?

It fits all these demonizing the Police discussions.
Let us not forget that it is our LE AND Military that protects our freedoms!

The story has nothing at all to do with demonizing the police. It has everything to do with the vile Trumpista Kevin McCarthy and his disrespect for the brave officers who defended him and the rest of his chickenshit colleagues.
Reading is fundamental, amigo. You ain’t doing it.

Not a Police basher, but I wish they would spend more time on violent crime, and less on bullshit, like brake lights and other vehicle-related infractions. The rate of unsolved crimes is apallingly high.

I have called the Cops exactly once. On behalf of a Co-worker who was being stalked and threatened, in real time. Cops were on the scene in minutes, but they didn't catch the Criminal. We gave them his name, but they were too lazy and indifferent to pursue him. ''If he returns, call us back, we'll warn him that he is tresspassing''.
Gee, thanks Officer.

WOW...YR banned again he's on a roll.
He won't be giving himself 5 stars for a while.
What handle does he use now when his HoeHummer handle is also banned, he needs a course in anger management.
Poor fella just can't help himself

In actual fact, despite all the press "Defund the Police" gets very few cities actually defunded anything. In fact I think that the Austin City Council were one of the few that did and they are now regretting it.
Mostly it's a talking point for right wing politicians to harp on. The truth is the police are getting the short end of the stick and it's not going to get better until someone tells the the progressive left that not all police are bad and they need to support the ones that they still have.
However the police will only get out of this mess once they reform their union rules to make it easier to get rid of those bad actors in the police ranks. It's simply too hard to hold police accountable for their bad actions.

Way way way back when, and I have no doubt this will probably surprise some of the "conservatives" on the board, but as a restaurant manager (where alcohol was not served and their department would allow it), I would not charge ANY first responder for their beverage be it coffee, tea, soft drink or whatever. Technically, they paid for it by leaving a tip larger than the cost of the beverage which this being back in the 70's was like 50 cents although they typically left a dollar. Paid off in the long run, because if you needed help, there would be like six squad cars there within five minutes.

Ted Bundy was finally caught for the last time on a traffic stop.
Tran ... it's always valuable to understand a subject before you comment on it in an anecdotal discourse. I confront assholes who either don't know traffic laws or simply don't bother with them a lot more than I experience confrontations with murderers.
Unfortunately, I cannot utilize "deadly force" to defend against someone who increases their speed to cut a red light. But it would increase my ammo budget. That's why I wanted "red light cameras"!
