is likely separate property as he married about 20 years after Microsoft was formed

and then he could have held the dividends from Microsoft in a separate account and didn't commingle the dividends but who knows

so smart guy didn't get a pre-nup. bhahhaaa that's gonna cost him. you can excuse Bezos for no pre-nup as he wasn't uber rich when he married. Amazon didn't happen for years after he married. Gatesy on the other hand was already an uber rich dufus. his state of residence almost certainly is WA where his mega mega mansion is located. looks like 50/50!

another thing to remember. Gates is really worth about 170 billion. he controls the Gates foundation which is worth about 40 billion. he can shutter it and reclaim the assets at any time he wants to. not likely he will but he can because it's his foundation.



now that he's getting divorced it makes it even more unlikely he'd shutter his foundation because that would become part of the divorce settlement.
