If they did, that sounds like bio warfare. It requires a response. Think donnie boi has the balls to take on China? Where will he then get his clothes made?

If the Virus was developed in a Lab setting my question was in reference to Tiny's post how the Virus then was unleashed into the population. Your response to that is irrelevant.

Seriously, I think the chance the virus was engineered in China is pretty close to "0". But higher than the probability that Trump tried to give COVID-19 to Biden, which is "0".
If you're inclined, take a look at this,
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-0820-9
They say, "Our analyses clearly show that SARS-CoV-2 is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus."
They base this on two things,
1. They say, "If genetic manipulation had been performed, one of the several reverse-genetic systems available for betacoronaviruses would probably have been used. However, the genetic data irrefutably show that SARS-CoV-2 is not derived from any previously used virus backbone." Now perhaps you could argue that the Chinese set out to do this from the start in a way that would mask their genetic manipulation, so they could release the virus on the West and create havoc and not leave a trail. So they devised a new method of reverse-genetic engineering and started with a "virus backbone" that had never been used before. But that's just not plausible. It sounds like royamcr's argument in the OP. Only even stupider. It would be like Trump walking into the debate with a vial of coronavirus, thinking he was uninfected, and then unleashing it on stage because he believed it had a higher chance of killing Biden than him.
2. The protein spike that the coronavirus uses to attach itself to human and animal cells evolved through natural selection, not in a laboratory.

and yet we have statements from 2 scientists (one of whom maybe skeptical) a well known french scientist and a chinese defector doctor that the virus was made in laboratory. the french scientist says an HIV gene was grafted to the SARS virus. and there's the chinese defectors claim of it being a lab creation.

Taking a quick look, I didn't come across any evidence for genetic engineering, and can't find anything about grafting an HIV gene onto the SARS virus. Any tips on how to find that?
Btw, It is plausible IMO that one of the scientists working at the Wuhan laboratory was infected by a bat on a visit to a cave and brought the virus back to Wuhan where it spread through the population. The Chinese may have mistaken it for the flu. The virus had time to evolve so that the coronavirus protein spike became better suited to attach to the ACE2 enzyme in humans than in animals. (This is one of the mysteries of the disease, why it's better adapted to attach to cells of humans now than bats, civets or pangolins, and why some researchers, at least early on, wouldn't rule out a laboratory. If this, say, came from an animal in a wet market in December, then how by January or February was the virus better adapted to attack humans than other animals?)
Or it's possible, but very unlikely, researchers were studying the virus at the lab and one of them got infected in the laboratory and spread the disease. If you believe the Chinese, they weren't looking at anything that was anywhere close genetically to COVID-19.

its the french scientist, don't recall his name. he's well known. he's the one who discovered the HIV virus.
ok got his name. Professor Luc Montagnier

They cite the Nature article I linked to earlier. Also Montagnier based his assertion on claims by Indian researchers that protein sequences in HIV were similar to what you see in COVID. Well, several other researchers have independently observed they're also similar to what you see "in many other organisms, including Cryptosporidium and Plasmodium malariae, which cause cryptosporidiosis and malaria, respectively." In other words, these sequences, common to HIV and Covid, also occur in many other parasites, viruses and bacteria.
Their comments about Montagnier,
"The only thing accurate about these articles is that Nobel Prize winner and virologist Luc Montagnier did in fact make these claims. Although he holds impressive scientific credentials, his claims run contrary to credible scientific evidence. And despite having won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2008 for his co-discovery of the link between HIV and AIDS, Montagnier now promotes widely discredited theories such as the pseudoscience of homeopathy and that autism is caused by bacteria that emit electromagnetic waves. Articles which repeat Montagnier’s claims without critically evaluating their veracity exhibit the common “appeal to authority” fallacy, in which something is assumed to be true simply because the person saying it is considered to be an expert, thereby misleading readers into believing that this theory is scientifically credible. This demonstrates the importance of verifying scientific claims with other experts in the same field, rather than simply taking such claims from a single expert at face value."

Well you're wrong. Since Viruses are studied in a Lab setting they can also be manipulated in a Lab setting. Many Virologist are in agreement with Covid being engineered in a Lab setting from natural Corona virus strains.

I found the paper the defector wrote, and it's here,

There are some real problems with her arguments, see this:

Rid of the old guard. Young socialists vote too. Be careful, greed a pre-existing condition. Is that covered for those who survive?

I may have to re-think my theory. Maybe the Chinese did intend to knock off old people, thinking that with only the Millenials left, people like Bernie Sanders and AOC would dominate political office and lead America on a shining socialist path. That's not to say the Chinese are socialists. Far from it. Except for their moribund state owned companies, they're bigger capitalists than we are. But if they can put us on the the road to The Good Old Time Socialism (for example, the Soviet Union circa 1917), they'll have us whipped. Bastards!

They built the railroads, and now the new silk road ends here.
China's new Silk Road runs through Latin America, prompting warnings from the US

A Chinese state-owned company plans to build a bridge over the canal. Another has built a convention center and a cruise ship terminal on the Pacific side of the canal, where the Chinese government also wanted to build a new embassy — until pushback from both the United States and Panama caused them to look elsewhere. Several other Chinese projects were also proposed since Panama joined China’s Belt and Road Initiative in 2017, including a high-speed rail system across Panama.

Yeah, Chinese businesses are all over the rest of Asia and Africa too, fueled by low cost loans from Chinese state owned banks.
While I believe it's beyond stupid jacking up tariffs on Chinese toys and the like, we should doing what the Chinese are, getting cobalt mines and the like into friendly hands of American multinational companies.

You and I are helping the Chinese "pave" the way here. Some people just don't understand.
