Not a chance. WaPo would not have settled at that amount. This was a settlement... I'm going to estimate between 250k-500k... 1 Million would be on the HIGH end. Anything more than that.. and WaPo would have just seen them in court. Why? Because they have a team of lawyers that could have kept it in the legal system for years. Moreover, based on the claim filed-- they likely would have prevailed in court. Lawyers don't file suit looking to go to court.. they file suit looking for a settlement. Its far cheaper and easier. Its the "cost of doing business".

In all due respect to you and Grace, nobody has no idea what WaPo and CNN settled for. It may leak out in the future. I think you’re correct that Wood wouldn’t settle for peanuts. I think $150 million is high though. And I admit I’m guessing here. Lin Wood wouldn’t have got involved in a 6 figure settlement for his client. WaPo did walk their statements Back to some degree, so they may have settled for less than CNN. As to exact amounts, nobody knows yet.

I don’t think it was chump change either. I think the $250 million claim was a pie in the sky ask. Richard Jewel did settle with NBC news for $500,000 in 1995. He also had claims against Piedmont College, ABC, CBS and the Atlanta Constitution. I don’t know if the claims were settled. Jewell died.

There is and it is easily definable as Trump Derangement Syndrome. Once it infects the mind, it can cause hallucinations, delusions of grandeur, paranoia and even loss of appetite.


Adam Schiff is exhibit "A". After years of claiming he had evidence of a Trump/ Russia conspiracy, all the classified documents tell us that the FBI didn't believe it, nobody that Schiff interviewed believed it and yet Schiff to this very day insists he was right. "Have you no shame" famously uttered during the McCarthy hearings is applicable to Schiff. He does not care that he acts a fool because there are so many around him patting him on the back for doing such a good job at lying.



Far from the adage "the truth will set you free", for people like Schiff, the truth could cost you your job for acting the fool.


I don't know how much Sandmann will get but I think any court would frown on a law firm taking more than 33 1/3 of any judgement. I don't think it beyond the realm of possibility that Sandmann netted 1 million between the 2 settlements and he has 6 more to go which will certainly but him in the million dollar club.

They can "frown on it" all they like. I've been party to enough suits to know that the 33 1/3 is just the lawyers fee... on top of that he also gets "reasonable and allowable expenses". I've had settlements that ranged anywhere from 35-50% of the total after all the fees (I like to sue debt collectors that break the law-- and so does my attorney).



The $$ sued for is mostly for press coverage. They know full well they aren't entitled to that much.


I think all told once all of his suits settle... after fees he'll end up with around 2 million. His age works against him-- as he'll have a hard time proving any real financial losses. He should have applied to a couple of "woke" colleges so he could have been denied entry-- so he would have had more leverage.



He has a great attorney-- but his attorney also knows that he NEEDS to settle.. because its going to be a hard road in court... and he's not getting any younger. He has a pretty bad victory record when his opponents go to court (Elon Musk, anyone?) As do most lawyers in his arena... the game isn't to go to trial, its to settle and collect the check.
