Well, no. That's not what the article actually said. Some guy was arrested for assault, and then he claimed he had coronavirus. How would he know that? If he had been tested and was positive, he would have been quarantined somewhere. Most likely he was just trying to stir up more trouble after he was arrested.

Dow down today, yesterday was a classic Short Squeeze, absolutely no relevance to where the Market is truly headed.

whole sectors getting decimated.. when Clorox is the hot stock, the outlook isn't very rosy.

Dow now up over 300, after being down close to that earlier this morning. more shorts getting squeezed! the chart shows a line straight up!

but.. this is a head fake.

as soon as the shorts are wringed from the Market, reality will settle in.

Fed Funds rate cut, a half percent.

It’s too early to tell if this will be like SARS or Ebola in terms of the impact on the market. Depends on how widely the infection spreads. There are some epidemiological features of this that make it much significantly more likely to spread than SARS, And way fir deadly than Ebola ever had a chance to be here.

I think everyone will be surprised at the actual number of Corona infected individuals there currently are in the country. China first noted this around December 30th they say. If this has up top a two week incubation period people were coming in contact with the virus at the latest in early December. It would take a month for illness to show and doctors to realize, its some thing different than flu and other respiratory infections. During this time period there were hundreds of thousands of Chinese who traveled to US and other countries where individuals frequently travel to the US.. Personally I was on a cruise for a couple weeks in January-early February where there were a ton of Chinese passengers. There was some illness that broke out and passengers were not allowed to even get water. Everything was handed to you from a gloved employee. Lots of people coughing, etc. Everyone watched the fate of the Princess cruise that quarantined. Does everyone think that that was the only cruise at the time that had individuals that got a corona infection. I think not. If you don't test for it, its a respiratory viral infection. Very low percentage of people seek attention and self medicate unless their symptoms are overwhelming.

How do I think the markets will react, sure they will panic but I for one am a bond guy so I'm fine. This market is just emotion driven and the media are like small children, they will move on to the next crisis to freak out about.

Aint happening bamboo. More infection coming, social isolation, then shitty corporate earnings because nobody is out and about. Stock market going to correct much further. Im on the sidelines. Going to be difficult to tell when to get back in the market, but my guess is, in another year or two

I agree.. a month ago stocks were priced at stratospheric, near all-time highs on a price-earning basis.. this virus just happens to be the catalyst to end years of hyper enthusiasm. there will still be some buyers, simply because Bond yields are at all-time lows..

and I can for see FED manipulation, such as large asset purchases to keep prices from cascading too fast. they have played the interest cut card too often, the Joker is sitting on top of the deck.
