Great bang for the buck concerning it's a mid engine car with a 495 hp V8 engine.

one of the things that strikes me is the clear resemblance of the c7 and c8.
here is a similar angle of the c7 .. the c8 at a glance looks like an updated version of the c7.
that it is a complete redesign in terms of the engine placement yet is very similar to the c7 is interesting.
also the horsepower rating will be interesting. the quoted rating for the base model is similar to the base model c7. the Z06 is rated at 650 hp, the ZR1 is rated at 755.
an article i read the other day for the release said that the mid-engine design was needed because at 755 hp for the ZR6 had reached its design limits for a front engine design. i can believe that given the problems faced with a front engine design versus weight balance. much easier with a mid-engine design to get to the holy grail of 50/50 balance. this of course is a point of contention among automotive designers with respect to handling.
here is another side profile of the new c8 ..
this looks like a Ferrari. if you replaced the chevy badge with the prancing horse and the red paint you'd take it for a new Ferrari design.
of course Chevy has flirted with a mid-engine Vette before. some designs were striking .. others .. not so much.
this looks like a Lambo ..
don't like this prototype much .. looks like a fucked up Lotus
this probably came the closest to going into production .. looks like a McLaren
this was designed to honor Zora Arkus-Duntov, not sure he'd be honored or not .. i'm not ..
i think the current design is excellent and will easily compete with the euro super-cars. the c7 in fact already does. both Road and Track and Car and Driver rate it as the best super-car dollar wise in the world. they are right.
to out-class the c7 ZR1 you'd have to spend twice the price for just a little gain in performance.
