Default Trombino's Bistro Italiano

Had dinner last night at Trombino's on Academy off of San Mateo. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere.

There's a new place where Texas land and cattle used yo be, I forget what it's called.. It's new Mexican food .. It's ok. I had blue corn enchiladas that were good but the rice and beans tasted like wypipo made it ... (no offense yall)
Im a diehard steak monster. Vernons was a disappointment due to the low quality of steak. I cant get past that. I even tried a second time....just as mediocre.
A shame.
Glad it wasnt just me.

Same, I love a good ribeye and the gent who took me just raved about how good it was and how large and expensive (What a charmer, right? Lol)... it was honestly the worst ribeye ive ever gotten at a restaurant... I'm not big on making a scene or sending food back so I just picked at it and had them box it for my dog. It was a cool place for frills and I tell ppl about it because it was fun .. but everything is over priced and the meat you're served is just not good in any way. I've had better steaks for 15 bucks at Monte Carlo...

Another mentionable!

Seems there's a consensus on Vernons for I too have experienced subpar food, though mine was roasted chicken and hers was steak. She said her steak was fantastic, but I echo the same sentiment of those in the previous posts yet apply it to the poultry.

Its more of a gimmick thank anything. There is a legitimate speakeasy off central, but I don't believe they serve food.

Dakota touched on something fun -- the Monte Carlo has very good food -- great steaks (they used to serve Certified Angus Beef, but I don't know if they still do) and excellent burgers...divey place, but a ton of fun.

This is great info. One of my coworkers suggested Monte Carlo also. I'm looking forward to trying out Trombinos and M'Tucci's also.

Thanks to all for keeping this board alive.

For that price range I would suggest Corn Maiden is a far better option.

I don't often order a steak when I go out, but I was there on a trip to ABQ a couple months ago and had an awesome piece of steak there. Right up there with the Pine Club in Dayton.

I finally had the opportunity to eat at the Monte Carlo with a co-worker last night. It was freaking awesome. The bar made me feel like I was 21 again and bar hopping in downtown El Paso. Fun times.
The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. No frills but really good food and friendly wait staff.

Allie from SA works at Seasons 52... She's still looking to make a connection with someone as far as I can tell!
