I don't think the idea behind removing the confederate monuments is to crucify America for slavery. We are upset about the racial bigotry that was caused by slavory.

It was awfu.l Racism, in this country, was born from slavory. It was the psychological justification used to reconcile the slave owners conscience. White supremacy was born.

Today, hate groups have associated those statues and the "stars & bars" with hate and are emboldened by them. It's complete crap to say that it's about remembering heritage. If by removing will help silence those groups, good.

We can't erase history. Sometimes, though, it is best to leave it there, in history.

Indentured servants often came voluntarily, and those who were sentenced to servitude for crimes had a lot more autonomy than African chattel.
