I have to admit that I am constantly surprised by the inability of leftwing nimrod fascist to read and understand history.
Are you proposing that France's elite helped out in the Revolutionary war because they were our friends? They did it to damage British interests while minimizing cost. That support had nothing to do with shared visions or friendship. Only an idiot would make that case. They were so incompetent that they ended up losing their heads.
There were many individual Frenchmen who understood who we were, and wanted/did to support us, but there is no correlation between them, and the "French", who want all others to be subservient to them.
French culture is inherently fascist(nationalist/socialist).
Israel was formed as a result of German and French Culture. They put jews in gas chambers, then burned them in ovens, effectively making the point that they were unwelcome in Europe. It is the stated policy of several Mkddle Eastern countries to kill the jews, and eliminate Israel.
Israel is not, and has never been, our friend. They are our ward. We are hated because we will not let those countries finish the genocide(left wing bigots thing we ought to let them). I, personally wear that badge of being hated proudly. I don't like the Israel tactics, but I do understand their motivations.
The European position is that it is ok to bomb and destroy Israelly children, as long as the Middle Eastern countries allow the Europeans to profit. Given the context, that is a disgusting stance. Clearly, the left wing idiots here in the US think so, as well.

The government officials, and the psuedo intelligencia in those countries despise the US, and the the example that the US provides.
There is not one example of France or Germany providing aid to the US in a time of need. In fact, there are multiple examples of France and Germany providing aid and succor to our enemies in times of conflict, with the intent of that aid and succor being repaid through immoral commerce(a prime example was the Iraqi oil for food program).
We ought to move all of our bases and troops in Europe to Poland. That is where they are needed.
All of them.
If Germany and France simply start taking care of their own security, having Donald Trump as president will have been worth it. Merkel's comments are essentially a complaint that the US no longer a chump. All I can say is "finally".
I'd note that Great Britain is not part of the Europe being discussed. They have been, and likely always will be, a great friend of the US.

When Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington, it was the French fleet that was keeping him from getting resupplied or escaping. They also gave us our national symbol, the Statue of Liberty. They surrendered quickly on the beaches of North Africa when the US invaded so few were injured. They never took us to court for all the damage and death we did bombing Germans in France. So the French have done a few things for us including giving Jerry Lewis an extended career.
You may question their motives but you said that they have not done ONE thing to help us. They have and you're wrong.

They didn't help us in the revolutionary war because they were our friends. They did it because they hated the British. The motivations is what is important.
They didn't fight us in North Africa because it would have been stupid(futile) to fight us. It wasn't because they were our friends.
Individuals gave us the Statue of Liberty. It was/is a symbol. Nothing more/nothing less. That is not assisting us.
The amount of damage they have caused our country, and the world, by their fascist tendencies, is incalculable.

I find it particularly funny that you would assert that they had a case for extracting more money from the US because of battles fought in WWII on their soil.
The stupidity of left wing idealogues is boundless.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend
good enough reason for France to assist the American Revolution, which occurred before the French Revolution.
5 May 1789–9 November 1799
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolution
April 19, 1775 – September 3, 1783
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americ...olutionary_War
Suffering reversals at King's Mountain and Cowpens, Cornwallis retreated to Yorktown, Virginia, intending on evacuation, but a decisive French naval victory deprived him of an escape. A Franco-American army led by the Comte de Rochambeau and Washington then besieged Cornwallis' army. With no sign of relief, Cornwallis surrendered.
Whigs in Britain had long opposed the pro-war Tories in Parliament, and the surrender gave the former the upper hand. In early 1782, Parliament voted to end all offensive operations in North America, but the war continued in Europe and India. Britain remained under siege in Gibraltar, but scored a major success against the French navy. On September 3, 1783, the belligerent parties signed the Treaty of Paris, formally ending the war, in which Britain agreed to recognize the sovereignty of the United States. Although French involvement had proved decisive[41], France made little gains and incurred crippling debts. Spain made some minor territorial gains but failed in its primary aim of recovering Gibraltar. The Dutch were defeated on all counts and were compelled to cede territory to Britain. In India, the war against Mysore and its allies concluded in 1784 without any territorial changes.
so they sent us a statue for inspiring them to throw off the yoke of imperial rule.
without their many enemies, the British could have crushed the american revolution. but they had France, Spain, the Dutch and India to deal with also. so they had to let the Americas go or risk the fall of the British Empire.
so how exactly has France damaged the US with their fascist tendencies? or the World for that matter?
this should be interesting to hear ..

A few more, from the 20th century:
WWI
Versaille
The political structure of the Middle East
WWII
The list would be a thesis if one extended it to the 19th century.

The French weren't at Yorktown to help us form a country. The French were are Yorktown to hurt the British without threat of pain. The French rulers at the time had no idea what they were doing to themselves. That assistance didn't cost the French anything in the short term.
In my book, that doesn't deserve any credit. It is like being assisted by a pimp when you are getting mugged because the pimp expects to get your cash.

Iraq(both the oil for food program) two words .. The U.N.
Iraq(the behavior of Chirac during the leadup to the Iraqi war) - we didn't need them
The Suez Canal - Cold War issue and both Israel and the UK attacked along with France
The perversion of several african colonies by puppet control - stop picking French boogers .. just about every old world European power had their hooks in Africa. and all of it was bad.
The exit out of NATO during the 70's. - De Gaulle as all frecnhies do, hated the UK. and he wanted to re-invent the Maginot line against the USSR. IDIOT. but overall meaningless to NATO.
Most things associated with de Gaulle. IDIOT. see above

You asked what the French had done to fuck up the world.
I answered, with a (very) partial list.
My point has been that we don't owe them anything. They have fucked the US over royally, and the sooner we internalize that, the better.
The A380, the the destruction of the value of the 747 caused by its unreasonable development, is a prime example of fascism at work.
