Thanks Ztonk for your insightful perspectives. I concur with your and others' perspectives that there are a number of quality guys who would be able to see our Austin providers more often if only the Austin rates were less; and that there are a number ladies who would have more clients, more appointments, and increased total overall revenue, but only if they adjusted their rates down to what the market indicates is fair price.
Some of the ladies have properly responded in that they set the rates based they think they deserve--true. And the guys will respond by only seeing the ladies they might afford, or for shorter time periods if all they have to offer is a set amount.
In market economy, the supply and demand factors in the market place will set the equilibrium price. If more hot ladies join the market, then equilibrium price will go down as they compete for a set number of clients. If more affluent gentlemen start to play more, they will bid the equilibrium price up for the ladies time. For all who have taken Econ 101, its the "invisible hand" at work. Economics will cause more ladies to leave or enter the market based on prevailing price, and guys will also enter or leave the market based on changing prices.
I believe that Ztonk has made an effort to explain what he has observed in the Austin hobby land, in an attempt to help both the ladies and gentlemen better understand what's happening here with respect to prices and business.
Yes, there are some ladies who will always command higher rates based on a number of factors such as excellent TCB, hot BCD session, beauty and body types, and most importantly excellent service with sincere IOP. I often see and repeat with a number of wonderful ladies, but they also appreciate my business and patronage with some discounts and special grandfathered rates for an old guy who enjoys repeating with them.

Let me further add that I will often let my long-term lady friends know I appreciate their competitive rates by scheduling longer sessions with them at $250/hr or less. That in my opinion is a WIN WIN for both the lady and me. The lady has the same overhead costs and set up time of just one appointment, but receives increased revenue from a longer appointment sessions.

Wow--this question is the hot, third-rail question in the hobby that everybody warns we should not touch. However, let me take a crack in responding with an example that surfaced in Austin Coed over the last few days and in which I participated with a few observations:

This provider asked the question of whether location was the reason that things had been slow for her in Austin? Here rates were $300/hhr and $400/hr, and that could very well have been the reason slow business. She was near the Domain--no, location was not the issue. Once I saw her rates, the answer was obvious. I also didn't take a second look as I already see fabulous Austin regulars at $250/hr, why would I see a traveling lady when my Austin lady friends take excellent care of my old self.
The ensuing thread and information found in her reviews showed that while she was a nice looking lady from out of town, she didn't have that "Golden Pussy" and only had average BCD skills and some questions on TCB, most Austin guys were not taking a second look.
It would be interesting to learn if she would have had more business had she lowered her very high rates to match those of Austin?
I have heard Austin ladies say: "I just saw where a lady is asking $300/400 and I am clearly better than she is. I should raise my rates because I deserve the same or better." Not true if that lady is not getting clients.
