No all liberals see nothing but politics, that's a closed minded view.
Religion has been used to cause more death and murder than almost anything outside of nature. .. that's not a closed minded view, that's reality.

I read what she said, and I disagree with her and provided evidence to support it.
You think being open minded means I have to agree with what u think, that's just plain stupid.

"You’re an atheist, and yet I don’t ever see you sneer at religion in the way that the very aggressive atheist class right now often will. What do you make of Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens and the religion critics who seem not to have respect for religions for faith?

I regard them as adolescents. I say in the introduction to my last book, “Glittering Images”, that “Sneering at religion is juvenile, symptomatic of a stunted imagination.” It exposes a state of perpetual adolescence that has something to do with their parents– they’re still sneering at dad in some way."

Now who does that remind you of?

Ms. Paglia has a lot of opinions about a lot of different things. For instance, she opposes almost any type of legislation that restricts a woman's right to an abortion.

I assume all of our conservative friends piping up in support of her opinions on liberals are in agreement with her on the abortion issue as well. Eh?

I could care less what Camille Paglia thinks about anything, much less my political inclinations. And, in almost any other context, all of you conservabots would be rabidly critical of her as a pro-choice, intellectual, academic feminist. But, since she hates the Clintons and has recently offered some statements critical of liberals/progressives, she is now the oracle?

Please.

I'd be interested in watching Hitchens dismantle her criticisms of atheism. I guess it's easy to pick on a dead guy.

Religion was used as the basis to fly planes into the world trade center, it was used during the Spanish inquisition, it was used by the Nazis, it was use by GW Bush with his "crusade". . . it was used during the crusades. its used on both sides in the Israeli/Palestinian wars. these are not opinions, they are facts.

It has also been used to build hospitals and orphanages, to feed the poor, by conscientious objectors against war, by Martin Luther King to promote civil rights, to raise Malcolm X out of being a thug, to free Johnny Cash from self destructive drug abuse, to inspire Mavis Staples and the Blind Boys of Alabama, to drive the British out of India , inspire George Harrison and Carlos Santana , to end slavery etc...etc....etc...

evolution, darwinism etc shaped the philosophy of the Nazi's not religion

Darwinism is the basis by which they found it acceptable to kill 6,000.000 people and countless more in war

although you may consider some Nazi's, in a racial superior way, reached back to an earlier mysticism build around ancient germanic rites and there was appeal to german paganism in a nationalistic sense and some held beliefs in astrology, but those "religions" weren't the basis allowing their crimes, it was their racial superiority

while lamentable the whole of the deaths in the Spanish inquisition range from 2,000 to 3 ,000

as far as the crusades the sword of the muslims drove out christians from the holy land, and the response was to be expected. People of common belief or ancestry have done the same throughout history, religion or no religion.

many more, much more, fantastically more, people have been killed by reason of greed and power and political crimes by ATHEISTS than ever in the name of any religion

take communism, both in china and the soviet union, upwards of 150,000.000 people may have died under lenin and stalin and mao - atheists all

and of course the 50 million or so due to WWII by racial supremacists, both german and Japanese, and uncle joe pitched in making a pact with hitler to split up poland

That's quite a leap there from agreeing with someone on a couple of subjects that somehow one then agrees with them on everything or considers them an oracle of some sort. Your ad hominem attack on Ms. Paglia in no way addresses the specific issues called out in the interview.

Your argument seems to be that because many people would disagree with her views on abortion that somehow that makes liberals open minded and justifies the wholesale attack on all religion.

You are also, as she stated , reducing everything to narrow political categories rather than embracing larger metaphysical and biological issues .

I don't make an argument at all, simply some observations relating to the irony, or perhaps hypocrisy, of the RWW gleefully agreeing with the opinions of a commentator whose viewpoints they largely, and vehemently, disagree with...sorry that got by you.

Nor have I made an "ad hominem" or any other sort of attack on Ms. Paglia. Read my post again....maybe you'll understand it better the second time.
