There is a new place off the City Park exit called Mizado Cocina. They have a wonderful and interesting take on preparing dishes. It is owned by a well established chef in New Orleans, and he traveled all over the world to come up with his special technique.
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his wife with a good friend who is also a chef, they are long time friends.

All these comments & no one mentioned the best actual restaurant in New Orleans for dinner: Jacques Imo's! Duhhh...

Muriel's in Jackson Sq. is also good--it & Jacques Imo's have similar creole-style menus, but are so good & SO MUCH less ridiculously-pricey than the "Big Four" (Commander's Palace, Galatoire's, Arnaud's, Antoine's).

I also want to put in a plug for Cafe Degas in Bayou St. John, which is a GREAT French restaurant--not creole, straight French (Provencal mostly).

Prices @ all are similar: ca. $50/person. Not inexpensive, but not CP/Brennan's/Snooty-snooty priced either.

Best charbroiled or chargrilled oysters - Drago's
Drago's invented them, but Deanie's are better.

Each month the menu changes a bit and the dishes are inspired by the cultural backgrounds of one the chefs. I've been here 4 times since April and have not had anything less than a superb meal.
Sounds fantastic Old One--thanks for the heads-up!

Depends on what counts as "new": it's been open since at least early 2013 when I moved to mid-city. Unfortunately, as often as I told myself I would, I never ate there.
