I think my anger would be around a 8 ...I too think it is wrong to contact a past client that way without prior permission......that is what PM's are for or if they sign up on your website newsletter.....

I would be angry too. I don't even like calling people back if it's been 30 minutes since they left a message. Even if they say to call them back it's just not cool. Unless they specifically ask for you to call them at a specific time/date. Pm's or email are best IMO. I do agree that you should get a hobby phone to ensure that won't happen to you again.
Close call...at least nothing bad happened.

When I 1st started D.E.W.ing the body rubs a gal said "and if biz is slow you can just call up some of your regulars" and they will just pop by. I asked if she was serious? and she was. I thought nope, never, that doesn't sound like a good idea at all.

A couple of years later I got a regular client who came to me because she called him during a family dinner. Opps!!!
To the gals........It is always a bad idea to phone out of the blue.

And to the guys..... your message should say something like... "You can call until 5pm and then again tomorrow after 8am"

NOT "please call in 15 minutes or not at all". Leaving out the part that she might be in a session and not get the message for an hour, but when she does get the message she doesn't know when the 15 min are/were up. The more clues you give us the better we can be.

I guess I don't mind getting text messages from the ladies, but most of the ladies that I see I make sure that they know only to text call me during certain hours of the day, or when I tell them that it is okay to do so.

During the day I usually keep my Yahoo Instant Messenger on mobile and they come in as text messages and I usually get several of those a day. Of course, I am ALMOST always alone on my job, so it is not a problem for me to receive text's or IM's. If there are situations where I do not want someone knowing, I put my phone on vibrate.

Default Google Voice

I get emails sometimes but never called or texts unsolicited. But to prevent this in the future, get a hobby phone and google voice.
I use my google voice number for the hobby, that way I can be called, or sent texts without a physical device to have to keep track of. The best part is its free: https://services.google.com/fb/forms/googlevoiceinvite/ you have to have a google account before applying. But sometimes you don't get an invite When I return calls I use the hobby phone through google voice so my google voice number shows on the caller id.

i use a berry and all messages, email, facebook updates and calls simply vibrate once. really there is no distinguishable difference between any form of contact. its password protected so its not easy for anyone to tamper with. been like that for so long now it doesn't get a second glance when it alerts.

however, if 'someone' were to find a second phone that was active i would have a hard time explaining. that's my dilemma with a second phone. find a place to hide it, remember to take it out of a pocket before i head home, forget to turn it off and have it ring...name a scenario really. then i'm really in a mess. i understand that there is inherent LE avoidance with a cash paid plan but i see SO everyday and there is far greater chance she'll detective that phone before LE ever would.

Thank you Dagny! It is so helpful to have a window of time to call back in! I get msgs too that say "Hey I'd like to see you, call me back". Alright, if 30 minutes has past is that still ok? How about an hour or two? I'd like to assume most hobbyists make sure their phones don't go off when they can't receive calls, but I don't like to assume! If there is any doubt, you won't get a call back! Missed calls without msgs don't get calls back either. Not rude just careful!

Understand where you are coming from but most (unless you are using a pre 1970's) answering machines, voice mail etc., have time and day stamps included in the software, such as "You have received a message at 3:13 PM on January 2, 2009. If you look at you clock and it is 9:00 PM then the 15 minutes is most likely pasted.

The deal is so many people don't listen to the time stamp.

I guess I see it kinda like stretch, that all telecom is quickly becoming fungible depending on what the sender's/caller's device does and what the recipient's does. She oughtta know that. It's the same as the time-honored rule of professional discretion that providers don't call without an advance OK and a specific #. If anything, ads coming in uninvited on the wireless device are a turn-off and a business-killer. She should know that, too.

It's all about privacy and communication. The provider should ask the hobbyist how they would like to be contacted if she is running a "special" first, and make note of that. But under no circumstances should she call them on their phone without permission. In addition it is also tacky to spam them via PM's and Email's as well. If the provider has a website she should utilize the site to advertise any "specials" and she can do so on the review boards as well.

There are things you can control, and there are things you can't control. What a gal does with her phone is out of your hands. Regardless of your instructions. People misplace phones. Jealous boyfriends find phones. The list I've read before goes on and on. You can project blame and get upset all you want if life as you know it is over due to an unsolicited text message in the middle of the night. Doesn't change the fact that it happened, or that you allowed it to be possible.

In your case, better to place the control on your end by having a disposable hobby phone.

yes, I would be irritated too. That isn't cool at all. She just wasn't thinking clearly when she sent it.

i made this mistake one time in the past, saying happy holiday to a regular. I thought the innocent text was ok, but it wasn't cool. I learned my lesson well, and I'm still embarrassed a year and a half later
