I remember in the early days of the Hobby for me a girl asked me to be a pimp for her and her friend and offered me 50% of the cut. Sometimes I imagine how my life would be different if I'd said yes. I'd probably be living much more dangerously, but at 50%, I think things wouldn't have been too bad.
I've always said if I was a girl I'd probably be a conservative sex-hater, or a high class hooker.

What this topic is for is to provide an avenue to discuss the discrimination you've experienced whether it be due to weight, age etc. As well as for Providers to discuss the reasons why they don't see certain "types".
Providers have a right to see who they want, as does any private business enterprise. This isn't a whiny liberal rant based on fair treatment. Nor is it a call for blackballing such providers.
I'm baffled by the refusal to put forward the mental energy to judge individuals according to their behavior, and willingness to turn down profit due to perceived traits.
At first I laughed, but as options dwindle because more ads put "UPSCALE WHITE GENTLEMEN ONLY" or "NO BLACK MEN" or "I LOVE WHITE MEN, SORRY BLACK GUYS" or "NO AA MEN." my race plays a larger part in my hobby experience.
My confusion is further enhanced by the fact that I'm NOT American, and so this racial bullshit is confusing to me.
If you show up to a nice location and the person is well dressed with the donation in an envelope, you still leave due to "what they are"?
Please my fellow Jimmies and Providers, let's talk, because I'm confused, and honestly at this point frustrated.

TS,
May I come to the point you raise in my roundabout fashion (sigh!)?
I have a dark skin, too. Sometime last January, I had one of my infamous conversations with an African-American provider, no business contact, just heart to heart, who had been recently released from the legal system and was in danger of going back in for numerous reasons, including the types of men she hung out with. Eevntually, that proved her undoing. I asked her, what about this picture makes sense to you, this repeated In & Out, 4 months in, 4 months out, what benefit or logic do you see in this way of living your life? Are you getting any younger? She tells me, All I want is a nice husband who will take care of me.
I told her I shall find an exceptional husband, a US citizen, pulling in more than $120K annually, guaranteed to never cheat on you EVER, an exceptional father if you want such, works in the IT industry, I know this guy for years, he is 37 years old to your 27, etc. The catch? He is an Indian! This girl, darker than I, jumped like a scalded cat! 3 weeks later she was back as an honored guest of the government, probably costing the taxpayer upwards of $30K/year and doing her future economic prospects no good.
I am particularly concerned about women who are caught up in this In & Out syndrome. Let us first take the case of those who are not debilitated by other, dangerous problems or seriously abusive boyfriends. From this small group, it is possible to find excellent husbands just from within the Indian graduate student population. Carefully screened, many are anxious to get a US passport and make this a permanent home.
Also, they will treasure anyone who makes their life marginally worthwhile, having suffered hugely in the effort to get an education, to get ahead and to stay ahead. It is difficult to explain the punishing pace either in research labs or in the IT world.
I don't know what is preferable: a dead-end existence, or one which promises a decent life as the honored wife of a professor or IT specialist. The last I checked, $120K today means that only about 12% more Americans are earning more than you are. Not a shabby place to be in.
I have no idea what a provider earns or can earn, but the pay I quote comes with a host of long-term benefits that only get better with time. Should race and culture prove such insurmountable impediments? Is jail a more inviting environment?
Right now, those willing to enter into a serious [NOT SHAM] marriage, can find a quick way to a reasonable or very love-filled life, provided both parties are screened by someone who is culturally aware and has the interests of both at heart.

My god...greenpeace. Truly this is surreal. Your arguments with Plastic Man were the popularly broadcasted links that led to me finding eccie.
I do empathize with your point, and the provider you speak about. The fact that race and culture remain the data points somebody would use to define their entire life path shocks me. Is it that hard to evaluate people individually?
Really, in this hobby in particular I'd expect more openness to experience.

Hookers are nothing if not lazy.
NBA is just a lazy way to screen.

Why is it that I see more black girls stating that they don't see black men?
Personally, I have tried black girls, both in the hobby and the real world, and the experiences were less than stellar.
I am not saying that all black girls are the same, but the few experiences I had were less than positive. So, I don't even seek out black girls anymore.
The few negative experiences, just turned me off of them. Would I call it discrimination? No, but they probably would. It has just become a preference.

A lot of this discrimination stuff is probably based on stereotyping. It's much more common on BP. And many of these gals are black themselves. I don't know of many VP's that refuse to see blacks. Some of this may be because these gals may have a black boyfriend/handler that doesn't want them seeing other blacks. Just because a gal says in an ad she doesn't see blacks doesn't necessarily mean she's calling the shots on that.

And just because the ads say she doesn't see blacks, doesn't mean that she actually doesn't. She may be going for the trade that won't see girls that do see blacks. Hookers lying? Say it isn't so!!!

When contacting a lady..you can always ask if she is cool with seeing gents of diff ethnic backgrounds..
That may help you not waste your time which is just as important as the ladies..also to keep yourself from the disappointment of her aboutfacing on ya and or asking you to leave.no need to put yourself through this and being proactive on your part will help...
I have been asked many diff times if I see black men and in many diff ways..one guy had me laughing..
He says.." do you see black guys" mind you this was his opening line in a text..I responded.." yes..they are all over the city..why?"
He then responded with an lol that was hilarious and the ice was broken..he then called, had a great conversation he was cool with my screening proceedure and we booked an investment meeting...
Never had a problem with him..great guy..
I also have seen gents that do not announce they are black and are professional when they call to book an investor's meeting...it wasnt an issue for me..I didnt turn them away because they didnt announce to me they were black because of it..
Im pretty open-minded when it comes to people...I believe we can learn something of value from every individual we meet in this life..key is taking the dog funnel off our heads...
Good luck to you..and if ya ever get to the city..hit me up a day or so prior and ill go over the screening credentials needed when booking an investor's meeting with me...:-)
