I have found that some people are more flexible and able to travel a bit between the cities mentioned.

I have also found that many people have tighter schedules.

If it were me, I'd continue reading and participating in the Upstate forum and decide from there.

OR I might also plan a trip near an "overnight delight."

OR I might also "just stick the pin in the map, advertise the best I knew how, and hope for success!!"

Anyway I look at it, upstate NY has been solid for me. I am from here, so I have to make it work!

I have, at times, researched demographics, and compared them (coupled with the discussion forums and different sites,) with my desired target markets.

My point being, I will always continue marketing and requesting feedback!!

If all else fails, I go with my gut instinct.

Also, if I tour and have a low response, I keep in mind that sometimes people can't always meet me on my scheduled tour dates. During times such as that, I find my preferred type of salons. There is one place in Albany I like for mani-pedi-wax, and one in Williamsport that I also adore. As a matter of fact, I even stop in at Williamsport just on my way through!

MY ULTIMATE favorite question for a deciding factor on where to stay is: "If you could choose ONE site for me to see while visiting _______ City, what would it be?"

I must admit I have traveled on occasion just for the experience. AND LIKED IT!!!!

I think the topics of cities to visit, routes to travel, and factors to consider are always great for discussion for the upstate NY board. I'd like to see this thread keep going with the positive suggestions.
