To all the Austin Gents sorry but I am putting my trip off until next week.
Something was brought to my attention and I wanted the rest of your opinions.
Especially the gents who live in Austin..
I always stay near the Domain and thought it was not only convention but safe.
I was recently told that is hard for most guys who live in town to get to bc of traffic and that it's close to some not so nice areas.
I was told Central or south Central Austin. Do you guys agree?
I would like to know before I book my room for my next trip.

Traffic is a pain anywhere in ATX.
The notorious Vagina Triangle (North Central Austin) is well known and well "populated", but not preferred.
South Central Austin (close to Downtown) is the worst pain to get to IMHO.
NW Austin (Domain/Arboretum) is indeed perceived as relatively safe and has several options of access: from 620/183, 360, Mopac(1) and I35/183
You might want to ask your pre-bookings what they prefer....

Thank you! Most of the guys I have asked said that the Domain/Arboretum area is fine with them. Also I think that's where the newer hotels are.

Sweetie you are not gonna get an accurate answer in Austin co-ed
f2c makes a good point. Traffic in this town is a pain everywhere and that is the exact reason why the Domain/Arboretum is one of the worst spots. If you have to come from Buda, Kyle, Slaughter ln, Dove Springs, then you are looking at about an hours worth of traffic. The Arboretum is good for people who live in the Arboretum and that's about it. 290 & I-35 is probably the best area, a lot of folks try and make it sound like a bad area but it is not. I was born & raised in this town and that is NOT a bad area, this is Austin this is not Memphis, TN thousands of providers have stayed in that area and lived to tell about it.
The ONLY people who recommend the Arboretum are people who either A) live or work out of that area or B) are NOT FROM HERE.
Stay where you want but, as a Native Austinite I will say that the Domain is NOT the right part of town to stay in. you will not get a good impression of the true Austin culture there, as far as shopping goes there is much much better shopping on SOCO than there is in the Domain. but then again what the hell do I know I'm only from here.
Take a look at the request/ ISO section there's just as many request for central & south if not more than there is for the Domain/Arboretum. My advice to you Katrina since you've already stayed at the Arboretum, is to stay in a more centrally located area and make YOUR OWN opinion. and FYI the newer hotels are actually located in Southwest Austin

I guess I disagree... I avoid I35 if at all possible, and mopac is fine except at the peak of rush hour - when I35 is as bad or worse - so I prefer locations around mopac/183. I work in oak hill, so further south is great, but I can get to mopac/183 in 20 minutes.

Can you please PM the route you take! (seriously!!). Cause just yesterday it took me over an hour just to get from Mopac & 71 to Mopac & 183. if you drive on mopac everyday then you are aware of all the construction going on, due to that worthless toll road. Screw that!!!!

I disagree completely with LM. 290 & 35 is on the edge of the vagina triangle, which has way too many flea bag motels. An out of town provider is going to look at the rate, and pick the cheapest motel (not a hotel), which will end up being a shit hole.
The Arboretum area is 10 minutes from 290 & 35, 6.6 miles according to Google maps.
Most of the hotels in the Arboretum area are cleaner, nicer, and will cost a little bit more per night. However, if a lady is looking to make money, she won't have clients afraid their shit is going to get stolen or afraid they will walk into a sting in the Arboretum area. Not that it can't happen, but the FBI does have that big grant to clean up the Rundberg area, conveniently right next to the Vagina Triangle.
Check out http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/tx/austin/crime/ for a crime map by area. Note the Arboretum is a safer area than anywhere along the I35 corridor.
Sure if you want to go learn about the hipster culture, you can go to SoCo. If you want to learn about Austin culture, I'd say visit Spamarama or Aqua Fest. Wait, those shut down as we became a hyper-monetized city, who likes to promote the big Music Festivals like ACL and Fun Fun Fun Fest. Austin is at crossroads, and will be for years to come. So the culture, is a moving target.
I am from North Austin so I am biased. But I have visited Kyle & Buda, and I have also visited Round Rock and Georgetown. RR & Gtown seem to me to be cleaner cities than Kyle or Buda. There is also alot less redneck white trash in RR & Gtown vs. Kyle & Buda.

Looks to me like the crime in Austin is pretty evenly spread out
http://spotcrime.com/tx/austin
That is exactly why I suggest she stay in more than one part of town and form her own opinion and see for herself which parts of town are better for her. Rundberg is less than 5 min from the Domain and that is the biggest shit hole in town.
As far as Kyle & Buda are concerned i never once suggested she stay there, i said if someone was coming from that area then they will be looking at an hour drive due to traffic. I could give a shit less how clean those towns are. as far as I-35 & 290 go, like i said I've been here my whole life and never had any issues there, there are some decent hotels there if someone is afraid of that area then they are obviously afraid of their own shadow and really should consider a different hobby.
And as far as Austin culture goes, it's been here since the 60's and will stay that way weather folks like it or not, all they did was replace the Aquafest with Blues on the Grass, been to both same shit.
