Regarding my own travel anxiety:
Several years ago, (back in 2007 actually) I was living in Austen Tx. Twice a week I took a bus ride to volunteer at a a non-profit located in a lower-end part of town along East 12th Street. My stop back then was right across from Al's Barbeque (anyone know it?) One day my bus driver did not remember to make my stop, or even announce it. Now I am visually impaired, so that is a serious thing for me.
When I realized that I'd missed my stop, I asked the driver to let me out at the next stop and I'd take the next bus going the other way. He wouldn't let me off the bus! We argued about it and he kept trying to convince me that it was too hot, no bench or shade and a long wait. . . etc . I got seriously pissed-off. Then a fellow passenger stood up by the driver and also tried to convince me not to get off at that stop. At that point, it occurred tome that neither one of them would want to get off the bus right there. Another factor was that I carried a computer shoulder bag and was dressed a bit like Woody Harrison in :"White Men Can't Jump", shor4ts T-shirt, trainers with white socks . . all of it. And sat down again.
So I stayed on the bus to the end of the line and rode it back to my destination, having reconciled with the driver and the other guy.

As opposed to the safe days of being black in the 1960's or 1850's

The thread is about finding a weekly arrangement. Let's not make this about race.

Oh lord here we go with this. I hope I don’t get pointed for this because the op himself has strayed off topic. I’m also a black male and I feel zero fear of cops. More on point I’m more worried about other black people doing me harm than I am cops. Please, there is a certain segment of society beating this horse to death and the longer they beat it it comes to the same as constantly crying wolf and eventually people stop being sympathetic. Just follow instructions sir and 99.99 percent of police interactions will go without a hitch. But hey feel the way you want to feel

The discussion of race ends here. Anyone else gets points. Not every fucking thing is about race people.

+1 EF, I have always been polite & respectful no matter what the circumstances have been and have never had a issue. If there were to be a problem I take it up at the proper time with the proper Authorities. Resisting & challenging does nothing but aggravate & escalate any situation, whereas being polite, compliant tends to ease tensions and resolve most matters. JMO

Point of order young man, the OP made it that way by his previous comments. See the following quoted comments for a better understanding.
