Odds are the Eli and the Giants will figure it out.....however it's more likely Dallas won't....or can't.

Take a peak at the schedule: The Boys easily could be 1-5 by the time you're enjoying a bite of that first Fletcher's corn dog at Fair Park (ie: see Oct 12 visit to.....ta da! Seattle!! Wow...won't that be fun?)

Numbers don't Lie:

Under the 25 year ownership of Jerry Jones so far, the JJ Cowboys (214-186) have already managed to lose 24 more games than Landry did in his 29 years of coaching them (250-162). Damn....how's that possible? Landry had to take an expansion team and build from the ground up....starting with cast-offs and scraps. Jones bought the team and was awarded the number pick in the draft (Aikman). Tom was never given such an advantage as that. Anyways.....

Figuring in playoff records, as well, the great Tom Landry finished his career with a +92 games, win/loss. Not bad.

Being a cumulative +32 games (over .500) to date, Jones & Company would need to go 60 and 4 over the next four seasons to match that same win/loss ratio over the same period of time.

Perhaps I'm going out on a limb here.....but I'd say it's a safe bet that isn't going to happen.

In fact, it's a stronger bet that Jerry will easily reach 200 losses as an owner AND GM before he ever matches, let alone passes, Landry's (and the Cowboy's GM for those first 29 years, Tex Schramm's) 250 W's.
Didn't old Jerry say Coach Landry was too old when he replaced him?
Maybe Jerry is too old now....perhaps Steve Ballmer will pay him 4 billion....he's stupid enough to do it

If every Cowboys fan globally pitched in a couple bucks, we could get Jerry Jones and his cronies out of here.

Here's my 2 bucks. Hell, I'll give 10.

Jerry the business man actually made a smart move there. He will be the butt of jokes for not making the playoffs but think about how many thousands of dollars he saved in printing and shipping not having to turn a print orDer of tickets around in less than a week.

Will very likely become standard for all NFL teams.

Interesting stats but comparing a 70's and 80's team to a team today is like comparing apples and oranges. Wins are the only thing that count, but in today's NFL the requirements for a winning team are dramatically different. Not only do you need talent, you also need depth. The days of having a quality player in reserve at every needed key position are gone due to the economics. The cowboys are slim in depth and questionable at talent at key positions including their coaching staff.

I predict a top 10 draft pick for them next year and a full season of pain, whining and second guessing Romo, the coaches and Jerry. It will be a quick season for them to be out of contention but a long season of press coverage, excuse making and empty promises of improvement.

Jerry is the new Al Davis..... just doesn't wear his warmup suits or gold chains.

Cowboy fans have a lot to look forward to.... until Jerry is gone or turns over talent decisions to someone else they will never be a winning football team again.

The only Head Coach the Cowboys have had is Jerry Jones until he needs a scapegoat. That will be Jason Garrett this year. It might have been different if he hadn't pissed of Jimmy Johnson who wouldn't put up with his crap.
I can't wait until the Saints get here. I hope Drew is healthy. Cowboy fans will get to see Rex Ryan on the sidelines again. Brought the Saints from worst defense to 4th best in one year. Makes you wonder what happened in Dallas. Doesn't look like he was the problem.

The key is to draft well. A key that Jerry has never learned. Draft picks are young, cheap labor. Look at the 49ers and Seahawks. Both built through the draft.

Thinck about this ... Jerry is a business man first. He can make more money fielding a mediocre team than field a dynasty.

I want to reiterate per Pyramider's point (building thru the draft):

When your GM treats your number ones as if he's playing with Monopoly money, you've damned your roster for years to come.

Remember these?....two first rounders for wr Joey Galloway.....a first, a third and a sixth for wr Roy Williams......trading out of the first round, then back up to get qb Quincy Carter)? Or makes the brilliant decision on Draft Day he has to have Felix Jones in the first round, a running back many scouts figured would be there in the late third round, early fourth.

Sounds like ol' TexassDave is giving Jerry some slack by suggesting that winning in the 70s and 80s were easier than winning now. Wining is winning. There's no set way to do it, other than by drafting the best players and coaching them up, or a reasonable mix of the two. Jerry's problems are two-fold. First, be can't draft worth a shit. Second, he hires shit coaches (that is, when he doesn't want a new stadium built).

The old saying, 'He can take yours'un and beat his'un and....'

That means the guy can coach his ass off, regardless of the players he has. This DOES NOT describe Jason Garrett. Nobody BUT Jerry would even have him as coach, period.

Maybe if Garrett had an outstanding roster to work with, he could probably at least make the playoffs. Of course, he'd get his butt handed to him IN the playoffs, but at least he'd get there. Ahhh, but back to Point A, the talent lacking roster.

No talent + no brains = loser team.

Am I missing something here?

Would love to see Bill Cowher coach this team...Garrett's just too nice for football. Just by hiring him I'd respect Jerry a little more (if he'd get the fuck out of the way).

The Cowboys need a scowling, mad-dog asshole to keep them fearful of their jobs. A Mike Ditka type. Cowher...yeah.

Maybe if you gave Jerry some taint, he'd show you his glory hole.

Even though he's hired a couple of them over the years, Jerry never has liked having a head coach in place that would have the spotlight on 'em (ie: Jimmy Johnson / Bill Parcells). The fact he's never met a camera or microphone he didn't love...that he relishes telling anyone who'll listen who's starting or what the game plan is next week....it's so clear Jerry bought this team to become the "face of the franchise". Anyways, speaking of that.....

Not that this story is any big secret, it's worth noting for those who've not heard this one before. This'll tell you everything we know today about this snake oil salesman:

Several months prior to the sale of the Cowboys (passing the baton from Bum Bright to Ol' Socks and Jocks), Jerry was contacted by a fellow Arkansas businessman to see if he had any "hot projects" looming on the horizon.

Jerry's responded he'd basically run his last deal and was looking at getting out of oil and gas.....and was exploring the prospects of getting into the "entertainment business".

So, there you have it......all we've been subjected to this past quarter-of-a-century is a modern day P.T. Barnum.....promote the marquee acts.....have a freak show.....fill up the tent....give 'em a show.....count that day's ticket sales.....repeat.

Teams cannot just cut players nowadays. If a player is not performing to cut means a salary cap hit. A mean coach can be tuned out or muted due to no fear.
