Honestly an ugly game put on by an ugly LEAGUE!!! Dirty Stern, dirty refs. Who cares anymore... What would 80's Detroit, 90's Bulls, (early) 00's Spurs have done to both of these teams? Annihilated them!!

That game was definitely ugly but at least it picked up in the end. And it actually provided some drama in the end because it was close, so I can't complain.

This game is also a reminder about how watered down the NBA has become. Back in the 80's, it did not matter how good the defenses were in a game, the winning team always scored more than 100 points. With expansion teams and so many one and done college players nowadays, the NBA has definitely diminished as far as skill level...If expansion did not start 20 years ago, the league would be different...Guys like Chris Paul, Kevin Garnett and Dwayne Wade would have started their careers on established franchises instead of on teams that did not exist 20 years ago.

It also did not help that both teams are kind of old and played so many games with little rest. You could see the toll that it took on jump shots, which obviously affects the scoring. I don't think it's a coincidence that the higher scoring games occurred when there were more days off between games.

Slims099, I am not sure why you mention the 00's Spurs. I doubt that team was much better than this Lakers team. The NBA was already watered down by then. I do agree with you though that the other teams you mentioned are better than this Lakers team. I am not sure why you did not mention the 80's Lakers and Celtics teams back then because those teams would have killed anyone in any era.

Slims,

Just like a Spurs fan. Bitter to the end. Joe has it right, Showtime Lakers dominate any of those others. The Pistons had to beat the Lakers AFTER their run of 5 championships and they were old. Same with the Bulls.

I quit watching pro-basketball several years ago when the league put in the rule that said it was a foul for a Maverick player to get within three feet of Dwayne Wade if he had the ball. That series was about as big a joke as awarding President Obama the Nobel Prize for all his accomplishments. Enough said. I simply moved over to college football and basketball.

Way more fun to watch.

Hey Boltfan,

Does that mean we can say to Spurs fans what was said to the Queens fans after their '02 WCF Game 7 loss; your window of opportunity is now closed!!!
