Oh, and damned if I remember its name, but we used to go to a baseball bar, under and near the Towers at Pitt, it had Guiness Stout on draft, and they had old pirates contracts hanging on the walls, like 3K a year for some of those old players.

It would have been right next to Forbes Field.

... Thanks, mates.

We surely discussed Winky's before.

I know-of West View Park from driving over that-way
before - and mates telling me that the whole area
was a amusement place like Kennywood in the 1960's-70's.

For me it is the Civic Arena followed closely by the sinkhole bus.
Some of these guys need a hobby.
My first is 3 Rivers Stadium. By far. Second is the name Heinz Field. I don’t see myself calling it Acusure or whatever.

... Blimey! ... I hope Charley3 didn't get banned for his comment here.
Don't we WANT people to give their opinions??

... Heinz field is a landmark that will still be there.

Surely might be interesting IF that Forbes field was STILL
over Oakland-way... How would it affect traffic today?

... Hey Devo - I asked one o' me "Pittsburgh Insider" mates
about yer baseball Pub... Does the name Frank Gustine
mean anything??

... Here's another name that popped-up about the
down-towne scene: "Texas" Gill.

Damn, now I feel older than I am. A lot of cool places that escaped my memory. Would have loved to be in that baseball bar and see those contracts.

I remember West View park from when I was a kid. The company my dad worked for had their annual picnic there. I still remember the "haunted houses" they had. Boot Hill- Had a giant cow skull. Another was a dark ride that had the track go outside and into a dip before going back inside. And one at the entrance that changed themes. I think the last theme it had was dinosaurs. There was also a ride called "The Caterpillar", which was like The Turtle at Kennywood but a bumpy-er track and a cover would go up over the cars during the ride.

The "Caterpillar" is at Idlewild Park in Ligonier also. Fabled that someone was bitten by a snake when the cover came down.

My ex-GF and I enjoyed Goth/Industrial night at Laga. Even got included in the anniversary video. We were regulars.

It was funny to watch black people come in thinking it was Hip Hop night & just seeing the look on their faces was hilarious. Most left, those that stayed actually enjoyed themselves. We welcomed everyone!

We would laugh when some younger ones would come in dressed like The Crow or ICP. Like, tell me you're new to this or a goth "poser" without telling me.

Rosebud- great venue for smaller or accoustic bands. No place in the city like it in my opinion now. Small Venues in downtown are all but missing. Stage AE is ok, but not small.
