One serious comment, then I'm done with you idiots on this subject.

I respect Kerry for going to VietNam. I don't recall if he was drafted, or volunteered, but either way, he didn't try to weasel out of it the way some of our other politicians have done, like Clinton, Cheney, Bush, et. al. So I do admire and respect his bravery for going. No doubt about that.

I tend to agree with the Swiftboaters who didn't think his service was as exemplary as he'd like us to think, but the fact is, he was there. I will give him credit for that.

I also respected Kerry when he returned and told Congress what a stupid war it was. That took courage as well. I was then, and remain, very anti-war. Well, anti-undeclared war with no definition of victory or definable enemy and no national security interest involved.

I did not respect the way Kerry tried to wear his service on his sleeve when the only point was to try to use it to get elected. I thought that was cheap.

Otherwise, although I did not vote for Kerry, nor did I vote for Bush, I defended Kerry on numerous occasions when Bush would lie about him. But I also didn't think the Swiftboaters were out of line.

But I defended Kerry more often than not, just not on that issue.
