it is the same discussion as stock care race and formula 1. it is as stupid as american football is crude and stock cars are not refined precision instruments.

the d cup fans in soccer AT LEAST DO NOT GET CENCORED on the TV because a finer specimen of a bare boob might show.

so in this country, to be a 'Real Man' you must be overweight, risk your brain in a sport where another 300 pound blob of meat hits you instead of the oval leather and when you you retire and get off the steroids you watch viagra commercials to get your tool up because the network censor thinks the only other aphrodisiac is listening to tiger woods affairs?

While I am not a fan of either stock car, or formula 1, I can appreciate the history behind the development of stock car racing..(e.g. the influence of prohibition and bootlegging on the "sport"). The way I understand it, is that stock cars are designed to be pretty much equal, which puts more reliance on the driver to successfully win the race whereas F1 competitors can often rely on superior technology. The United States was built on a strong sense of individuality, perhaps that is why Stock car racing is more appealing. Of course, I couldn't care less.

I am not quite sure what you are trying to say here, but as far as I know, despite the growing influence of the NFL, it is still the networks who determine censorship for whatever goes across the airwaves.

Wow, first you bash France, and then the U.S., I thought we here in the states were supposed to be the intolerant ones. Anyway, to answer your question about being a "Real Man" in this country. It's quite simple, "real men" don't worry about being "real men"...they just are.

like I said, comparing sports is pointless. They are different types of challenges. When Montoya quit F1 and joined NASCAR, there were people ridiculing him as 'another sissy from formula 1' trying to make it in NASCAR. He himself said that he was surprised to learn how difficult it is to drive at hairline distance to the vehicles around you for 500 rounds. and how heavy the cars are. It is a different set of rules therefore a different type of challenge. I object to F1 pilots being called sissies. I also object to F1 fans ridiculing the USA for allegedly being unable to develop a F1 machine.
I don't know the history of Nascar. I started watching it because I am an F1 fan and Montoya joined that sport. i find it boring to watch and it probably is much more fun to drive than watch. on the other hand, I am sure some readers here will find F1 appalling because it lately became a game of politics rather than competing teams.
what fascinates me in F1 is the combination of engineering, teamwork and athletics or driving skills. you can have an excellent engineering team bringing out the most advance machine, have a good driver and then have a lousy team at the pit stop. despite the super technology and the good driver, that team will lose. or you can have real lemons in the engineering department, a motivated team and a good driver and produce an epic fail as ferrari did last year.
My assumption is, that NASCAR has less focus on the technology but I might be wrong.
F1 brought a lot of technology now used in regular vehicles: traction control, carbon based brakes. anti lock brakes. automatic gear that also works in high performance vehicles. not to mention advances in tires. fuel efficiency. well. I like f1. And I am sure a NASCAR Fan will tell me about the merits of that sport.

sure. but i remember the time when Janet Jackson had a bra accident and it became a scandal and some network was fined. besides her having nothing to hide there :-) what is the big deal about nudity here. they played the movie 'blame it on rio' the other day and it is rated R... I'm like what? there is not a single nude scene in it and no explicit language either.

on the other hand they show children (!) things were individuals get killed in awful ways in cartoons.

so i thought that the picture one reader posted about soccer girls definitely would be censored during the broadcast. and tried to make a joke. did not get across i guess...

I bashed France? I am not aware of that. I made a joke about the swiss and since i am myself i thought i can pun fun on my own kind....
real men - real women... it is a another endless discussion about gender stereotypes.
a neighbor here who is a fan of American football said that soccer is gay. so i thought well the logic if that argument would have to do with overweight...

i hate when i have to explain jokes.....

I should explain when I respond to things, I generally do them tongue in cheek, I'm bored and I like fucking with people..

Hell man, sadly, I don't even drive American. It's been awhile since Detroit's Heyday, until they return I'll stick with the Japanese.

I don't know, maybe with today's reality entertainment driven audience, the politics could give a boost to the "sport". Even better if we could get the wives to start sleeping with other drivers.

Agreed, but it doesn't have anything to do with soccer or football, that's just FCC regulations. Now it may not have received nearly as much attention if it had happened during a soccer game, because not as many (americans) would have been watching. I myself missed it, I was at the grill, but I caught the many, many, many replays for the next couple of months.

My mistake, in you first post in this thread you quoted another hobbyist who said, "at least we can agree on our low opinion of France", which I took as an agreement of the statement. Not that I truly care about bashing France, or even the U.S.

Don't have to explain anything to me chief. Perhaps I should have added some animation to illustrate that these are not topics that I am passionate about, just something to talk about to pass the time, or at least until the next provider ad comes up. Here you go.

.....it takes a level of class that frankly most Europeans don't have to appreciate the complexity and beauty of an American stock car....but don't let it be a shock, and make no mistake---many Americans like myself...don't give a fuck what someone from Europe thinks...and that is coming from someone who has spent hours upon hours on most European mass transit venues...surrounded by people who don't have the common courtesy to take a regular bath...brush their teeth or even use toilet paper......

The same is true in NASCAR.

Yes, the F1 cars as well as the American Indy cars definitely have more tech the NASCAR cars. However, The tech is very much present in NASCAR. It is just not as obvious.

i am sorry but i do take your comment personally. and the way it comes across is that it does not sound like you have much class. besides: throwing all Europeans in one bucket is as ignorant as throwing New Yorkers, Texans and Californians in one bucket, just to mention a few.
