Im just seeing this thread today. Guess i miss some stuff.

What sense does it make for a provider to rate her own ad? Just askin'

I think the better "rating" system is looking at the view counts.

Looking at view counts doesn't necessarily tie into how well an ad rates. Some areas/cities just have more people viewing the ad than others. So that could be why an ad has a lot of views. Also, if no one posts in a bit of a while and that ad is first one in the forum, that usually equates to a higher view count also.

My thought was that ...

-- all ads initially are the first ad in a forum and drop down as additional ads are posted.

-- yes, the initial ad will usually get more views at the get go, but that also depends on the reputation of the poster, imo, and possibly her creativity

-- ad clicks will also be affected by "re-clicks" as viewers drop back by or research providers who are new, have relatively few reviews or who have returned after extended absences.

-- granted, the initial page of a review forum imo will garner more views since that the first page that opens and ad forums in heavily trafficked cities than ads in lesser populated forum cities.

More critical, possibly, to this conversation, are the ads created by providers at the low end of the posting spectrum who believe only a few ads are needed to keep them in hobbyists'minds.

I could name dozens of ladies I would consider "classic" creative quality advertisers, but no need to quantify them here.
