To be fair, plenty of people throughout history have killed in the name of (a) God.

Yet the ‘atheists’ in the 20th century managed to kill on a scale never before experienced in history.

Yes MC your right alot of people have been killed in the name of Christ, but the modern atheist really takes the cake on this point and we can argue back and forth all you like the numbers arent going to tip in your favor. Again Im not painting all atheist with the same brush but I but to be honest I would have alot less reservations on a number of fronts in life if I thought this was all there was. I always found the morality and complete disdain of evil by Christopher Hitchens particularly fascinating because he was an atheist. Thats real morale fortitude and I always admired it.

Default Atheist intolerance.

Mao’s governmental policies led to famine that killed millions of Chinese. He is, in fact, the winner and most infamous of all killers, and he was an ‘atheist’. Runner up is the Communist regime in the USSR; also atheists. Even, Hitler’s numbers, and he didn't kill for a 'god', don't stack up against those of the ‘atheistic’ communists.

The estimates below are based on studies published by Rudolph J. Rummel, Death by Government. New Brunswick, N.J.: Transaction Publishers, 2010. pp. xxiv, 496.

His numbers—neither the highest nor the lowest available—are broken down by events. Rummel is a right wing libertarian.

Russian Civil War (1917-22): 9,000,000

Soviet Union: 61,911,000 democides in the USSR 1917-87, of which 51,755,000 occurred during the Stalin years. This divides up into:
■Russian Civil War (1917-22)
■War: 1,410,000 (includes 500,000 civilian)
■Famine: 5,000,000 (50% democidal)
■Other democide: 784,000
■Epidemics: 2,300,000
■Total: 9,494,000
■1923-29: 2,200,000 (plus 1M non-democidal famine deaths)
■1929-39: 15,785,000 (plus 2M non-democidal famine)
■1939-45: 18,157,000
■1946-54: 15,613,000 (plus 333,000 non-democidal famine)
■TOTAL: 51,755,000 democides and 3,333,000 non-demo. famine

WWII European War (military) Dead (1939-45): 28,736,000
■War-related (additional) Democides
■Hitler: 20,946,000 (including Jews: 5,291,000)
■Stalin: 13,053,000

Chinese Civil War (1945-49) Estimate:
■War Dead: 1,201,000
■Democide by Guomindang: 2,645,000
■Democide by Communists: 2,323,000
■Famine: 25,000
■TOTAL: 6,194,000

People’s Republic of China, Mao Zedong’s regime (1949-1975) Estimate:
■Democide: 34,361,000 (1949-75)
■The principle episodes being…
■All movements (1949-58): 11,813,000
■incl. Land Reform (1949-53): 4,500,000
■Cult. Rev. (1964-75): 1,613,000
■Forced Labor (1949-75): 15,000,000
■Great Leap Forward (1959-63): 5,680,000 democides
■War: 3,399,000
■Famine: 34,500,000
■Great Leap Forward: 27M famine deaths
■TOTAL: 72,260,000

Under Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge imposed an extreme form of social engineering on Cambodian society—a radical form of agrarian communism where the whole population had to work in collective farms or forced labor projects. In terms of the number of people killed as a proportion of the population (2 million killed out of an estimated 7.1 million people), it was the most lethal regime of the 20th century. (There were an estimated, additional 35,000 foreign democides.)

•Estimates based on books by Rummel, Rudolph J.:
China's Bloody Century : Genocide and Mass Murder Since 1900 (1991), Calculates the lives lost in 20th Century China.
Lethal Politics : Soviet Genocide and Mass Murder Since 1917 (1990), Does the same for the Soviet Union.
Democide : Nazi Genocide and Mass Murder (1992), The German rampage across Europe.
Death By Government (2010), The full treatment for atrocities committed worldwide during the 20th Century.

Nicolae Ceaușescu atheist leader of Romania from 1967 to 1989. Unknown thousands died each year during his reign.

Faced with a declining Romanian population in 1966, Ceaușescu issued Decree No. 770 prohibiting abortion, and contraceptives were not allowed and were not readily available. Celibacy was not an option for many Romanians, as anyone still childless over the age of 25 was required to pay a ‘celibacy tax’, a heavy burden for a population living in poverty. For seven to nine children a woman won the order of "Maternal Glory." For five or six children she was given the "Maternity Medal."

He was not motivated by concern for families or unborn children; he wanted a larger labor force.

Yeah! That is what this country needs, an atheistic candidate like Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot or Ceaușescu. They weren't 'nutcases'.

IB Hankering.

Got to disagree. While Mao certainly did his best to earn the title of most dispicable human being ever, I really think Joe Stalin has him beat. Pure evil.

And just think. "Uncle Joe" was the leader of the Soviet Union that many of the leftest in the late '40's and early '50s were so in love with.

Okay, Stalin wins on evil, but that little-atheist bastard Mao had a hand in killing some 75 million Chinese.

GP, I wonder why you bother. There are so few here who even contemplate what you have already read, evaluated and posted in an effort to educate them.

There is a saying about pearls and swine that seems fitting.

Some moron like Whirly laughs at it because it was on MSNBC - an exit poll for Rice Cake.

That is like getting mad at NBC when you lose a bet on a baseball game they broadcast.

I have to take breaks from this place. Stupid is hard to watch on a continual basis.

It's a bit iffy and as with all partisan things, takes some imagination to leap to the full conclusion he made. But, there is a pretty big percentage swing.

SPOILER ALERT - I can find it for you and I won't read it to you and I sure as hell can't understand it for you.

The problem with "journalist" like O'Donnell is they have sold any credibility out the window long time ago. Chris Mathews falls into the same category. I have a feeling that ole Chis has a blow up doll of the President, complete with strap on and a little electric gizmo to give him that "tingling" feeling.

Sometimes the only sane person in MSNBC's prime time is the ole Dyke Rachel. You can see a glimpse of sanity shine through every now and then, but then the programming takes over and she gets back on the party line track.

At least Rachel doesn't fantasize about sucking the Presidents dick.

You can't take what O'Donnell says as news, it's opinion and spin. And so what if the polls say that some people have religious intolerance? What do you want to do about that? Hell, people moved here from England because of religious intolerance. The Constitution says that the government can't impose a religious test on those running for office. Citizens can, if they want to. It's wrong, but so what? The answer is education, not force.

I have no idea who any of these people you mentioned are, because I don't watch TV. (I just saw Hannity for the first time on a video from this forum this week.)

But this..............
