She was not fired, she resigned (but she may have before she got fired so she could save her pension). Usually when companies or in this case, cities, hire someone based on sex and race instead of content of character and actual ability to do to the job, then a clusterfuck ensues.

Dallas wants to perpetuate the "good-ole-boy" system. The same system that has this country fucked up! The police depts need to be overhauled NOT just the funding, but the minset and in order to do that the "good-ole-boys" have to go!

Could you give a few specifics on what you mean by "overhauled"? So many people these days are saying that we need to "reform" or "re-imagine" policing, but they don't give any details as to what that means. What, exactly, do you want to see done and who should do what? Specific details, please. If you can't give specific details, I don't really know what you mean or what you are asking for.

I disagree. Perpetuating a good ole boy system would have blocked Hall from coming in from out of state, initially. She is leaving because black, white, Democrat and Republican agree she has been a lousy Police Chief.
and you know a White Male can not, will not succeed her. Even one on the force for 25-30 years. if you care to bet, and take the side that says ANY White person will succeed Hall, I will put up $500 in a New York minute.

I'm beginning to wonder if there is any scientific data that supports the idea that "diversity is our strength."
Maybe we should just be concerned about competency... since clearly it is NOT our strength.

I think diversity can be a strength. But I rarely see it in practice.
The entire Dallas City Government has had an enormous racial shift, from largely Caucasian, to overwhelmingly Minority-led, the past 30 years. Anyone remember when Dallas was rated #1 in ''best run cities''? Hard to believe now, but it was, in the 1980's.
Can you imagine a law-and-order DA like Henry Wade, in 2020? God, it seems like forever, but he lasted well into the '80's, most remember him back when JFK took a couple of rounds to the skull.
Now we got a DA who allows theives who steal under $750, to go un-prosecuted. Cops won't even respond to a call for that level of theft. Too busy busting those naughty Korean places.

Often times, the "good ol boy" network will make a diversity hire-- knowing that the entire system is fucked-- and knowing that diversity hire will get blamed for the lions share.
So then we have more folks saying "SEE-- SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO A DIVERSITY HIRE"
Meanwhile-- had they really been interested in a good "diversity" hire-- there are qualified people that could actually handle the job. But-- often times they aren't actually looking for a great <insert job position here>. They're looking for a scapegoat. Because they know that one hire isn't going to fix the issues-- but they don't want one of their own looking bad.

I think it is great that not hiring a black woman shows the good ole boys are at work, screwing things up - but when they hire a black woman the good ole boys are responsible for her failure as well.
Those good ole boys are some crafty fuckers!
