I nominate you to confiscate guns from drug dealers, gang-bangers and MS-13.

Case point: Chicago. How well does that work up there..? its not... End the Gun free Zones and allow everyone to carry. That will put an end to the BS.

Can you explain how a "gun free zone" sign stops a criminal from committing a crime? I guess the theory is that the would be shooter will not kill people in a gun free zone out of fear of breaking the law that the sign entails??

Perhaps we should add "theft free zones" to stop theft?

Man, gun-free zones never work. Baltimore has record homicides this year, them criminals is going to get guns whatever. That boy in White Settlement was not legal to carry, who gonna stop him?

I see the Elephant in the room has not been mentioned.. maybe it will after the shock and praise for the security team runs its course.

that Elephant is the fact that the Killer was well-known to the Pastor and the Church. they had given him food several times, and his motive may have been revenge, given he was turned down after asking for money.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/te...cid=spartanntp

also, he was obviously in disguise, and many people knew that immediately. the Security Guy was watching the Killer from the moment he walked in, obviously with suspicion. the question must be asked.. why wait for the Killer to draw a weapon and kill 2 people? someone had to think he presented danger, dressed in disguise, and his identity shielded at that time.

not trying to dampen what to now is a "feel good" story of heroism.. but.. if I'm the Security guy who took out the Killer, I would be asking myself if 2 people had to die.

I know hindsight is 20-20, but.. why not ask the Killer, dressed in a long overcoat and fake beard, to remove his coat when he sat at the pew inside the Church?

Good question, but consider what if he didn't have a shotgun and the security "harassed" him? Could he make a scene, take legal action, etc? We live in a litigious society.

Or when ask to remove his coat, he initiated removal and pulled the shotgun and start shooting?

Maybe this is something to consider in future training?

Coward. I would think that with your guns you’d be the brave one . . .

Of course it wouldn’t be me; it’d be the government.

Gun free zones don’t work because you can buy guns everywhere else. Other countries are “gun free zones” and it works great. We just happen to be the Wild West.

I am not the one who said

"We need less guns. It’s a freaking epidemic in our country."

You ask for less guns, it is your move.

the Shooter imposed himself on private property. no litigation there. the training should have addressed this scenario.

if he tried to shoot when asked to remove his coat, it wouldn't work. 2 security guys are beside him, he has a long rifle that would be immediately exposed.. they jump him, no way could he have fired shots. instead they sit back and wait for trouble to happen, they saw it coming, 2 people died, and the Head Security guy is deemed a Hero.. I believe he partially failed, honestly. he is running for a position in Hood County Government this year, it will be interesting to see if his opponent will come at him like I have

All good points. Yes, there may be no litigation issue, but it could be bad publicity for a church.

I am not sure what type of shotgun the shooter had, they can come on the short side instead of a long rifle.

if they are worried about "bad publicity" for asking a guy in a bulky overcoat and fake beard/mustache to remove his coat, they need to grow some balls and put on big boy pants. I got "wanded" last night at the ZZ Top concert at Choctaw Casino, when the initial metal detector beeped. do you think Choctaw is worried that I think their security system is over-the-top (no pun intended)?

the Shooter had a long rifle.. but no matter what he had, a knife, a pistol, whatever, Security KNEW he was trouble when he walked in.. they failed to duly protect the congregation, IMO.. I would think much better of the Head Guy, if he would publicly admit he could/should have done more. he refutes the calls saying is a Hero, but he could do much more if he admitted his failure.
