Thanks all -- didn't mean to get anyone riled up about it! I've been taking basic precautions -- I've more worried about passing it to some older family members who are high-risk than I am worried about having it myself.

I appreciate the reality check though all!

Well it is winter. So basic ski mask. Funny thing is I can't seem to be able to cash a check.

Odd to me how people don't think about fastening a seat belt but bitch up a storm about masks! Something missing in the logic!

I was pretty young when seat belts became mandatory. I don't remember the "expert" commentary, bullshit excuses, bitching and crying as there is with masking.

Problem dumars is that people are getting COVID, even if they wear their masks everyday..all day! That's why everyone is bitching so much about it! Ultimately the best way to stay safe is SOCIAL DISTANCING. That's why all these "lockdowns" are happening. Wearing masks is not enough. And...most people aren't even wearing "protected masks". Only the N95's truly protect against the virus. These other decorative masks, shields, etc. really do NOTHING to keep someone from exposure.

Well, people still die in head on collisions even when their seat belts are fastened! What's your point? Fact is FAR fewer are dying from head on collisions WITH their seat belts fastened!

NOBODY has said the masks we see most people wear are 100% effective!! NOOO BODY!! Fact is, ONLY a self contained respirator can give that much assurance! Even then it assumes being worn correctly, outlet valve is clean, etc.

When I hear about people getting sick even while wearing a mask I have a lot of questions running in my head. I'd bet there is an attitude or procedural issue involved in there somewhere!

Bottom line, wear a N95/KN95 mask or a 600+ thread count cotton. Surgical/procedure mask are more breathable but provide less protection. The "K" in KN95 means invented in Korea but many are now made in China. If you check the infection rate of Korea vs the US who is FAR less? Spoiler alert, it ain't the US. One of the KN95s I have is a real KN95, made in Korea. The other is Chinese but is on the FDA approved manufactures list. And I, like so many millions of others, ain't got a whole lot of confidence in Chinese made shit but what to do? Go without? Wrong answer . . . something is better than nothing.
