It's unfortunate that we've demonized nuclear for so long in this country. Taking into account carbon dioxide pollution nuclear energy is by far the cleanest type of energy we can produce.

I agree, except when it’s time to deactivate an old reactor.
I have read that the plan to deactivate that one down in South East Texas is to encase it in a huge concrete sarcophagus.
France gets the majority of their electric power from Nuclear. They have solved quite a few problems surrounding it.

Really, no magic....but it is more efficient than gas.
They have a bad ass new electric truck coming out.
The large UPS truck that delivers in my neighborhood is all electric.

I agree nuclear "fission"energy that we now use is, but the large strides in "thermonuclear" energy AKA fusion research will be the breakthrough energy creation of all time. whatever group of people that master this will make Bezos fortune look small.
This will be endless green energy for humans lifetime.
Oil will never be replaced for most all means of travel.
The MANY things that are produced with the byproducts of oil are almost infinite.

I don't know where you got your information from.
When you create electric you have to change the state of energy from one to another...and in doing so you lose potential energy...this is a simplistic explanation...electricity has to be generated...which takes up more energy.
This is a complex equation which obviously you don't know much about.Research is your friend!!

On average you save 8-900 bucks on 15k miles of driving.

The problem with fusion is the amount of energy it takes to start the hydrogen isotope fusion process. It’s basically the same temperature as the center of a fission explosion. Millions of degrees F.
That, and the big boom.
It’s relative easy to controll a fission reaction. We solved that problem back in the ‘30’s. But at this time, there is no way to control a fusion reaction.
I agree, though. We need to work on it.

Some of the aspects of electric cars are really exciting. Performance being a huge part of that. Having %100 of the motors torque on tap at all times can be serious fun.
One of the big drawbacks to EVs currently is that when their batteries are charged with electricity generated by coal fired power plants they are dirtier than straight up combustion engines.
Another issue I don't see discussed much is disposing of old batteries once they've lost their efficiency. The metals used in them will likely present an ecological nightmare, especially when and if they outnumber internal combustion engines and are being discarded in large numbers. The disposal of other smaller electronics is already a huge problem we foist on other lesser developed countries.

Folks who defend wind typically fail to mention the lifespan issues related to wind turbines.
Folks on here who relentlessly attack wind never bring up this issue.
They attack wind using lame rationale, like bird strikes or lubricant leaks. Bird strikes?
If you're concerned about birds you'd better start comparing the bird killing done by fossil fuels versus bird strikes caused by turbine blades. Lubricant leaks? Practically zero problems. There are other problems related to wind, like noise or looks or down time. Wind will fill a niche, especially in windy regions, but should never be looked at as a primary source.

well theres always the maintenance issue with with wind turbines. prolly costs more and is time consuming to repair and replace the oil in those machines.
and not mention they are ugly!!!!!
bird strikes are a valid argument. just can't flip the bird on that argument.
