There is no such thing as "an innocent airliner" .... and since you prefer to remain ignorant and self-delude yourself .... I won't favor you with "information" that resulted in persons being killed who were allowed to board the "passenger airliner" ......
... someone stupidly assumed on here that "settlement" is an admission of guilt. Someone who thinks they are as smart as you think you are knows that 99% of the time, if not more, the settlement documents specifically state that neither side is making any admissions one way or another (except in much broader langauge and exacting language) and it is simply "buying their piece"! Catastrophic passenger airline crash cases are historical for settling rather than the defendant risking a verdict based on the horrific injury and damage images.
By an immediate admission of responsibility for the purpose of settlement ONLY the airline can often substantially reduce the risk of unacceptable damages in relation to the viability of the company or institution responsible putting the horrible PR to an end and allows the responsible party to "move on"!
Example: Did you ever hear the "voice" recordings of the astronauts during the Challenger fragmentation as they passed through re-entry in a fireball?
