Mmmm Truluck's...
Dynamite filet, jumbo crab claws... Chocolate bag!

Also Knife at the Highland on Mockingbird is fantastic.

Edit: Another very cool place, not precisely steak house, it's Five Sixty. No other place beats the view, food is Asian.

Happy Birthday Madison!!!

They closed it and rebuilt it. It is back open.

As for North Dallas....Bob's; can't believe no one mentioned them. I would rate them over Pappas

Also Flemings is opening up on Legacy. They are pretty good... and if you are a chocolate cake fan, get their chocolate lava cake.

Stay the Fuck away from RAFAIN.

HORRIBLE!

Perry's in Frisco. Ruth's Chris steakhouse on Dallas North Tollway next to III Forks.

Also Capital Grille in the Shops of Legacy in Plano.

All good suggestions but when I am meeting with friends eating & drinking I prefer Bobs. It's not as snooty but still classy and nice. Afterwards you can walk around and hit the night life. If you don't find anyone you can take that big ol carrot home with you that they give you at bobs. Lol

I can't believe no one has mentioned Del Friscos. The Wagyu steak is to die for. It's big enough for 2 share

I will second Pappas.. Dunston's is pretty good for the price as is Texas Roadhouse. Though we are comparing apples and oranges here.. Pappa's can hang with the upper end..

Steakhouses are weird sort of restaurant category, almost all unto themselves. And in my mind they are close to interchangeable. (And yes, I'm not a huge fan of steakhouses.) A lot depends on what you're looking for. Almost any of the top end places (Pappas, Bob's, Del Frisco's, III Forks, Al Biernat's, Ruth's Chris, Capitol Grill, etc.) can do a nice steak that has a good flavor the way you want it. And they'll have have more or less similar sides.

I haven't eaten at all of them, but I can list the things that I think set the one's I've eaten at apart from the others.

Pappas Brothers is my favorite. And it is because they have a spectacular wine list and has a very wide selection of top wines, including French Bordeaux and Burgundy. a 3,000 entry wine list isn't everyone's cut of tea. Me, it's the only reason I set foot inside a steak house. And yes, they do have an extensive selection of Cabs and other American red wines (20 pages or so). PRices on the list are pretty reasonable, and you can find decent bargains in the under $75 range, thought the metier of the list in $200 and up.

Al Biernat's is smaller and more intimate than most steakhouses. I think it has a higher and somewhat more elegant level of service that suits the predominately Park Cities crowd. Less boisterous and steakhousey to my mind, which I actually prefer.

Bob's is pretty much your classic wood paneled "boy's club" steakhouse, especially the one on Lemon. Very clubby. Same with Capitol Grill, though it has a bit less of a steakhouse service feel, though not as "nice restaurant" a feel as Al Biernat's. At least these are my impressions.

For something that might be truly "new" and maybe bit different than the usual steak place, Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse in downtown Dallas does wild game (things like bison, elk, venison etc) in addition to normal beef steak.

Chamberlains in Addison.
Great place.
Also Kenny's Woodfire Grill in Addison as well (If trying to stay in N Dallas).
Del's, III Forks and Perry's are good choices and you cannot go wrong.

As far as Rafain the are in the minor leagues compared to Tx de Brazil and Fogo de Chao.
The last two have much better meat/sides/salad bar in my opinion.

Good Luck and it sounds like you should celebrate once a month and take in all the suggestions.

Happy Birthday!
