Yes I agree, +1 it's not cat or dog day
Delivering a baby is way more painful and much more responsibility than watching a bitch have a puppy and raising a dog!

There are moms and then there are SINGLE MOMS...
like me who get to celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day ....
because we have to play both roles on a daily basis!

I wouldn't interpret it as them expecting everyone else to consider their role in a pet's life equal to a mother's role in her child's life. I would interpret it as them feeling a motherly bond with their pet and wanting to share that feeling on a day when we talk about mothers.

Either way, it doesn't seem worth getting bent out of shape over. My relationship with my mom isn't affected by the way anyone else celebrates the holiday.

While we're at it, it really ruffles my feathers that these Christians think they can take over the winter solstice celebration, rename it Christmas, and expect everyone to believe that they invented it.

Don't you hate the Haverty's chair commercial where the woman says her chair that she designed is her "child"? I find that so incredibly insulting to human life, not mothers.

I will never set foot in a haverty's store, even if I had a zillion dollars and no furniture.

I've never passed a life form through my birth canal, (still tight enough to grip your finger boys!) nor have I adopted or been inclined to spend much time with young evolved simians. I just isn't in my stars to be a breeder though I very much enjoy the act through which one acquires the little beggars.

However, I've had animals all my life. Horses, pigs, chickens, cows, cats, dogs, ducks, geese, you name it, I've been responsible for many of them. I currently have a dog. An exceptional one at that.

But I certainly wouldn't condescend to think my love for this animal is equivalent to a mom, or an adopted mom, or those surrogate moms who take care of neighborhood kids, or gay moms or gay mom-dads or anything like that whatsoever.

To anthropomorphize animals is very peculiar to me. I am not a "fur-momma" he is not my "fur-baby". The very suggestion of such is vulgar to me for some reason. I like my dog simply for his dogginess and all the weird shit that dogs do both charming and horrifying. But my affection for him isn't this based on approximating him for a child, or the affection he gives me which looks very much like something we humans understand is love but is likely an evolutionary trick they learned to keep us feeding and housing them. For all intents he is biggest whore in the house.
