We have lost our edge...if we could work together instead of against each other, we would be much better off. Our focus needs to be directed toward fixing the major issues that are dragging us down....our educational system is dysfunctional; we need to learn to live within our collective means(we are drowning in debt...public and private); treat each other the way we would want to be treated; invigorate research and development of technologies that will lead us back to the industrial powerhouse we once were...

This would be a good start.
