To answer the original question I'm sure you can say anything you want to a mod via pm.
About the only thing you can get banned for via pm is to harrass/stalk someone.
But your best bet is to just ignore said mod.

All kidding aside, note to Ruby. While you're on vacation, here's something to ponder. One bad review doesn't really send off alarms to most of us guys, but a series of bad reviews will. Even though you probably think you were wronged and wanted to take up for yourself, sometimes you need to let things slide. You need to pick your own battles and where they're fought.

I think things have gotten a bit too far out of hand and a push away from the keyboard is needed...... it has nothing to do with any personal beef you may have with anyone on staff...... it has to do with a clear violation of board rules...... while Ike's methods to find your "informant" is different than mine...... "he" needs to know that there are reasons why we do not want information leaked to the providers in such a manner..... it compromises the honesty and integrity of a reviewer and his reviews should he fear backlash from a provider should he be completely honest in his review..... you had a review that stated you had tattos he was unaware of and that your pictures were touched up just a bit, and you start a thread about it, and urge the review be taken down because it was "false".... what happens when an actual "BadL review needs to be written about another provider? Does a hobbyist then have to worry about an even greater more vicious response? There are reasons policies are in place.......

As far as your initial question.... there are always ways to politely ask someone to kindly step away from a situation and allow someone else to field the issue..... now if you're asking "what can you get away with?" Then I think the smart answer is to change the question....... either that.... or you could do as others do...... trial and error......
