You have proven that one of us may be a "historically illiterate moron" In my comment I said " liberals as you call them" You do know that by me saying "them" it is not the same as saying "us".
You crack me up sometimes.

DUDES!

We all know the flag we are taking about. The point is --- can you allow for the fact that someone might have an opinion that differs from yours - that isn't born out of evil or hatred? It is the highest form of ignorance and small mindedness and dare I say bigotry in some cases to assume that someone whose opinion differs from yours has to come from a place of evil. You foolishly make assumptions about me rather than simply trying to understand.

I agree with you on all points. I also understand you liking the flag for non racist reasons. I do not believe the flag was ever a sign of racism until certain people deemed it a such. I support you wanting to have one .
Slavery was not a part of the civil war the way some may think. All that said I respect my fellow Americans that find it offensive so out of respect for them I do not own one. I thinks its amusing that Republicans accuse the flag of being racist and then defend the right to display it. Even if it did not have a racist stigma you would think they would see it as a revolt to their way of thinking. Remember it was the Republicans that demanded we be under one law. Also I will remind you the the Emancipation Proclamation only effected the confederate states, not the Union as if there is not enough evidence already to show there is no connection to the flag and slavery. IB is splitting hairs over the rectangle flag that is not actually a flag per se, to cover up the fact that he did not even know that it was not a Confederate flag

You'd be the historically illiterate moron that misidentified the flag.

Leave it to IBIdiot to take a discussion and turn it into a monkey shitfight at the zoo.

Relevant, as always, Corpy!

It's like me saying that I like the Nazi flag because of their anti-smoking campaign, and therefore I should be allowed to use it whereever the fuck I want.

Answer me this: When was this confederate flag first put up in S.C?

Hint: it wasn't right after the civil war.

It was in 1962 on the Capitol dome. Of course, many supporters would tell you that this was to mark the centennial of the civil war. But jog your memory and try to remember what else was going on in 1962.

That's right, it was the civil rights movement. And people put the flag up to remind the black folks where they came from.

As to your question of "why now?", it isn't just "now". People have been arguing S.C's flag for decades.
It was a huge issue right after the CRM and for nearly 4 decades, and then in 1994 there was a vote that kept the flag flying. The NAACP even encouraged a boycott of the state, which probably pleased the supporters of the flag.

In 2000, they "compromised" on their racist bullshit and moved it to the statehouse grounds.

So, that's really the "history" of the battle flag. But please.....continue telling us how it represents nothing but love and bravery and yada-yada-yada......

There is no end to your foolishness. You started a debate without even knowing what you were talking about. One that was not even relevant to the thread and just wont admit you have little to no knowledge about the topic. Crack up? 1st graders make better jokes than you.

Your use of the word moron is a little telling of your eugenics disposition, ironic that you would be on the list of the undesirables.

While I do not see the Confederate war as being over slavery, I do agree on your view of what the flag ( battle/ Rebel) means today. That is why I have no desire to own or display one.

You were the historically illiterate moron that started a debate without knowing what you were taking about as illustrated in your post cited below:

And, if you genuinely knew WTF you were talking about, you'd have recognized that comment was a variation on a jibe rising from 1862 when U.S. General John Pope supposedly headed his dispatches with the annotation: “Headquarters in the Saddle,” which prompted his troops to repeat an old army jibe that “He [Pope] has his headquarters where his hindquarters ought to be.”

You do not make a lick of sense to anyone but yourself. Who gives a shit about something that was supposedly said that has no bearing on the thread. Do you ever stay on topic? All I see is you picking up crumbs of a sentence and running wild with them. There is no fucking rectangle stars and bars confederate flag, there is how ever some folks that have stretched the battle flag out to act like it means something and that was a portion of my point.

You're a fucked-in-the-head, historically illiterate moron wholly incapable of understanding elementary facts. Your statement regarding the SC flag was demonstrably wrong, and the Army of Tennessee's flag was rectangular; thus, proving again what a fucked-in-the-head, historically illiterate moron you are:

It's the rectangular flag used by the Army of Tennessee as stated, you "#Grubered", freelance faggot, Odumbo Minion from Arkansas; so, you're a bald-face, lying prick when you claim otherwise.
