the consensus by historians was that the Jews/Hebrews were guest workers who migrated to the Nile Delta where they settled. they were a rough equivalent to the Jannisaries of Turkey. they got paid for their services, so how could they be slaves? its more likely that the population were "contract" workers; indentured as per the agreement between the egyptian king and the leaders of the jewish population.

Okay, the topic is reparations. In general, reparations are paid to the victims of a crime. Let me say that again, the VICTIMS of a crime. Not their descendants, their friends, or business partners. Only the victims qualify in the courtroom. Now, you can make a case that the children of a victim could be disenfranchised by the loss suffered by the family in property or lives. Such as...the family land was stolen, and it took 40 years to get it back or the father being killed by a murderer injured the minor children. We're not talking about children or even grandchildren. To go right to the problem, we're talking about a so-called aggrieved group upset about the historical institution of slavery in the UNITED STATES. Funny they don't talk about the rest of the world, just the USA. I guess you always go with the deep pockets and stupid, soft-headed liberals.

Slavery in the USA and reparations...first I have to point out that prior to 1781 we're talking about England. There was no USA before that. The institution of slavery was ended officially in 1865. So, legally, we're talking about those 84 years between the two dates. So, anyone whose family came to this country after 1865 gets NOTHING. Anyone whose ancestors gained their freedom before 1781 has to go to England, France, or Spain for restitution. This is not to say that people were not poorly treated before and after the founding of the US, but it is not SLAVERY. You need to take it up with the states, the cities, and the descendants of those who profited.

Okay, we've established our grievance group. Who qualifies? Should Oprah qualify? Michael Jordan? One can argue that their circumstances are far better off than if their families had stayed in their original countries. Kind of like a swindler who sells you worthless property only to discover oil on the property. You can hold a grudge against the swindler or you can enjoy your new car and house.

I'll end this one here as it is getting long and I'm sure that the logic is taxing to some readers here. I will leave you with this one little nugget, Africans were not the only people enslaved and brought to the new world.
