Now these "mixologists" are like rockstars and "guest bartend" at clubs and they bring the crowds. It is another excuse to make drinks cost even more than the already high price.

I love a daiquiri made with frozen pink lemonade, Tanquerqy gin, and ice. I have no idea what it would be called, but it's perfect in the summer.

and who can beat a perfectly made hurricane? It's so hard to find a good one! I miss the ones I used to get at the Hilton bar in houston.

the martini I ordered at Brown bar here in Austin, was just divine. I should revisit them.

I'm a traditionalist when it comes to drinks. My summertime drink is tanqueray and tonic, in the winter, it's a nice bourbon on the rocks, and spring time is for mojitos and mint juleps.

Because you either pay for it "now", or pay for it later.

My fave? KetelOne, shaken hard to generate ice crystals (some would call it "bruised"...must be bar-size ice), in a pre-chilled up glass, no vermouth, 2 olives. Yes, other vodkas can claim a "smoother" experience, but I prefer the full-bodied classic vodka flavor. (Bartender Casey's comment...many folks like to keep their vodkas in the freezer. Not me. A good amount of the ice melts when shaking the vodka, which is a good thing when making a good martini. And IMO if you do use vermouth, just a swizzle in the chilled glass, then dump the excess.)

I'm more of a non spirited refreshment girl, but I do enjoy a good mojito maybe twice yearly as long as it's made correctly. Otherwise I'll have a Shirley Temple extra cherries and a lime! mmm mmm good!

I don't drink much, but every once in a while I like a nice Long Island Ice Tea.

Great Thread! Anyone have any advice for us old farts on 'low cal' drinks? These ultra low cal beers have little or no taste......I'm trying to work on a low sugar or low cal margarita (my drink of choice if done right)......although the diet cola and Bacardi is a nice summer 'adult beverage' (allegedly the lowest calories).

Tell me more about bubble tea? Never heard of it.....

Caipirinha. I had it in Brazil. It's made with cachaca, sugar and lime. Cachaca is derived from sugercane.

Default Capirinia is a good drink.

My fav is the old Italian classic Negroni. I find though that many bartenders have never heard of it. Maybe too old and classic. One gin, one sweet vermouth (preferably Cinzano)and one Campari with an orange twist.

BTW, I had a Botanical recently at North, the It. restuarant in the Domain, Gin,cucumber slice and fresh tarragon muddled in Drambuie, and topped of with tonic water. Very fresh and refreshing tasting.

Rich, you might like a prosecco and lime. If you are not familiar with prosecco, it is an Italian sparkling wine you can chill and pour over ice with a fruit wedge; lemon, lime, or orange. Very refreshing summer drink, no sugar, minimal calories.

Rich, Peach got me going on these teas and smoothies. The Boba smoothies are very light and flavorful, chai tea is a favorite, coconut , almond are close seconds. The teas are very light and refreshing. Most any Noodle House will have them. Madame Pho's has really good ones.
