Fly into Frankfurt, and take the trains all across western europe (Paris, Barcelona, Belgium, etc). Include at least 2-3 days for Amsterdam...it's so much more than the Red Light District.

My thought was the Caribbean after hurricane season and just before Christmas. Bring back lots of Duty Free items like alcohol. I returned with some great scotch and rum from the Virgin Islands a few years back.
