Europe is facing economic devastation and depression at a scale that will make 2008 seems like a walk in the park.
As the FT reports, German manufacturers are halting production in response to the surge in energy prices, a trend the government has described as “alarming”. German economy minister Robert Habeck said industry had worked hard to reduce its gas consumption in recent months, partly by switching to alternative fuels like oil, making its processes more efficient and reducing output. But he amusingly clarified, some companies had also “stopped production altogether” — a development he said was “alarming”.
“It’s not good news," he said, “because it can mean that the industries in question aren’t just being restructured but are experiencing a rupture — a structural rupture, one that is happening under enormous pressure.”
Habeck said rising gas prices were affecting everyone from big industrial companies to small trading firms and the medium-sized enterprises that make up the “Mittelstand”. “Wherever energy is an important part of the business model, companies are experiencing sheer angst,” he said. And since energy is a crucial part of every business model, one can only imagine the chaos, fear and loathing hammering the largest European economy right now.

We’ve learned that solar panels thrive in colder temperatures, but what happens when it snows?
The good news is that even when covered with snow, solar panels can generate electricity.9
Sunlight still reaches solar panels through snow and keeps solar cells producing energy. Solar panels’ dark, reflective glass accelerates snow melt and it slides off before it hampers performance. Installation racks are also typically tilted up at 30 to 45 degrees, which keeps snow from accumulating (to a point).10 A light dusting of snow is likely to blow off or disappear rapidly.

Absolutely the high heat is to blame, and with the West Coast supposedly in the midst of one of the most extreme heat fronts in decades, I imagine they will still have issues. People running AC is likely the largest culprit of energy drain versus powering electric cars. But I'm sure that has an impact too. Just not to what the gas lighting minions of Fox News would like us to believe

California is headed to a massive electricity shortage, has no plans to increase electric power generation, might be facing hydroelectric power shutdowns due to record low dam water levels, and Newsome wants all car sales to be electric in 14 years.

Jeffrey Gubdlach isn't trying to define a rolling blackout. That was you and you did it very, very poorly... one might even say conflating so hard you lost all meaning.
They actually do have a plan to increase generation. It's not a great plan, by any means. But as climate change continues to jack up the heat and dry conditions reduce the water elsewhere that they rely on, they need to adjust that plan.
Which is why they need to reconsider their stance on retiring and eliminating nuclear.

So in Colorado - they took control over people's thermostats to prevent rolling blackouts. When thousands of Xcel customers in Colorado tried adjusting their thermostats Tuesday, they learned they had no control over the temperatures in their own homes.

Temperatures climbed into the 90s Tuesday, which is why Tony Talarico tried to crank up the air conditioning in his partner's Arvada home.
"I mean, it was 90 out, and it was right during the peak period," Talarico said. "It was hot."
That's when he saw a message on the thermostat stating the temperature was locked due to an "energy emergency."
"Normally, when we see a message like that, we're able to override it," Talarico said. "In this case, we weren't. So, our thermostat was locked in at 78 or 79."
On social media, dozens of Xcel customers complained of similar experiences — some reporting home temperatures as high as 88 degrees.

Probably too high from all the weed he smokes in Colorado to be able to change his thermostat. It's funny that dumb ppl who accept automatic thermostats don't know how to disable their limiter switches etc. Probably a dumbass conservative who didn't take a science class or know how WiFi and ISP settings work.
