My dad grew strawberries when I was growing up. Real simple dessert my mom used to make every night during growing season- first slice the berries and add a little sugar, next bake a pie crust, when done baking just break off pieces of crust and put in your bowl. Add berries on top and mix up the the crust and berries. Top with whipped cream and enjoy. Much easier than baking a pie and better imo

During strawberry season, I'm quite partial to taking sliced strawberries, mixing with some crumbled feta cheese, snipping some fresh basil leaves over all that, then tossing with some good balsamic vinegar. Then again, I've had enough people go "yuk" at that to suggest that it might be an acquired taste (though I acquired the taste the first time I tried it, so I might be weird).

I've often said that if there is a God and she made anything better than strawberries, then she kept it for herself.

Then again, I've said the same thing about watermelon in season and lasagna any time of the year, so I guess I can be accused of being fickle.

Cheers,

That actually sounds good, possibly with some leafy romaine lettuce.

Thats very similar to how my grandparents do strawberry shortcake, except we roll the pie crust out, sprinkle it with sugar, cut it out with a biscuit cutter and bake them. Sounds delicious!

So far I've come up with:
Strawberry shortcake
Strawberry pie
Chocolate covered strawberries
Strawberry margaritas/daquiris

I'm going to be absolutely sick of strawberries before the season is over.

I definitely froze some for smoothies, and I also crushed some up for strawberry shortcake and froze them. The hours I spent on them will be worth it in the middle of winter, where they're out of season.
