My point is, it's first and foremost a murder. Not all hate crimes result in death. The notion of hatred towards these individuals based on their race is just the fruits of the crime. The act of carrying out such hate resulting in multiple deaths constitutes murder, in this case first degree murder.

Whatever convictions this kid had for blacks it resulted in murder, nine counts of first degree murder. He could have expressed his hatred in other non lethal ways but he went as far as to kill instead. What if all those people were white and of Swedish origin, and Dylann hated Swedes would it be a hate crime then or murder?
