Also-- while I'd love to believe that this may bring the board back to life... experience on other forums has shown that the more "kind and gentle" a board becomes, the quicker the death of activity. Those that start off "kind and gentle" tend to do ok.. but when a board shifts from one style to another.... its often a different outcome.

No. A Supreme Directive is where two parties are instructed to not PM each other, not comment towards each other on the boards, and essentially not mention each other in any context.

They often happen as the result of one party asking the other to leave them alone and the other party not doing so. I've actually had to request a directive with one member-- got sick of the constant BS via PM from her.

You are right in that those who often get trolled and cyberstalked, who also do not post much due to that fact, will probably still be shy about posting until they see some of the trolls receive their auto ban and coupled with most of the troll frequent posters will do less posting, the activity will be low for a bit. After a while tho, I think getting the board on the track it was actually meant to do instead of the drama board it has become, the lurkers will start posting and be able to have their own opinion without fear of scrutiny or ostracizing and throwing out baseless assumptions/accusations and calling them fact from the popular boys.

It all depends on how efficiently this "zero tolerance" policy for insulting, harassing and bullying others is enforced.

So you are saying that Eccie is going to die a slow death because no one knows how or wants to make posts about their opinion on the hobby without being insulting, harassing and bullying others?

For some of the frequent posters it is definitely a hard pill to swallow and the new posts will likely in the short term come to a slow crawl, but eventually, when members see that they can make new threads and post on topic of a thread without being trolled. Then it will pick back up with more honest reviews, more ads by more different providers rather than the same ones over and over and lively discussion threads instead of lively drama threads.

I'm all for cracking down on insults, bullying, etc. it is low-grade behavior.. I'm not so sure lively discussion is on the horizon, though... non-Troll injected threads tend to die off around post #6-7.. I would rather see the drama threads killed off, even if discussion is silenced for a while.. there was a thread I viewed yesterday, that had gone off the rails early, and had 40+ posts, all troll shit since about post #5.. I don't know why people kept the thread alive, but apparently there is a significant population here that enjoys that nonsense.
