Default Dreams can come true.

I'm pretty content with my current dream toy, a lightly modified Lotus Esprit S4. Perfectly balanced, blindingly fast (0-60 in 4.4 seconds). It is lovingly cared for, driven on sunny weekends in the Hill Country and has never felt a raindrop. (This is not a picture of mine, of course, as Austin is too small a town and the car is too recognizable.) It does, however, give you a sense of the car's predatory stance and sensual lines. It is a hoot to drive. Pulling up to the Four Seasons with one of our lovelies for dinner and some relaxation is a boost to the ego of an old guy like me. And the lady's exit creates quite a show for the attendant.

Do any of you people with an affinity for old cars have any experience with auto trim work (as an enthusiast, not as a professional). I've got a 15 year old car that I try to do all my own work on. It is certainly not in the classic car age range, but old enough that something is always wearing out. I get a sense of accomplishment with each successful diy: new shocks, new tie rods, new motor mounts, even replacing some inexpensive gaskets. The only diy I haven't been completely pleased with was when I ripped out the old low-rent vinyl coverings and worn carpet and attempted to diy the interior. I certainly could have used some tips and tricks with the trim work.

Exclamation Testosterone

I would have to go with James Bond's favorite car.

The Aston Martin is just dripping with testosterone!

More recently:

There was a guy in Dallas I think that spec'd out a Z06 that could beat an F16 on the ground in a 1/4 mile.... and yes I am serious.

I have a C6 Z06 and it's wicked fast, I can't wait to get a ZR1. I'm planning on installing a Vortech supercharger, then I will be faster than a ZR1. I have a 1979 CJ5 with 5.0 EFi, 4.10 gears and 35" Boggers as my toy.

When I was much younger I always wanted one of these...

Loved the look of it and the gull wing doors.

Nowadays, I think I'd rather just have one of these...

Probably last longer and would certainly be a road rage repellent.

Ah yes, The Bricklin. Unfortunately, the powered gull wing doors did not work all that well.

The Bugatti Veyron is a fantastic machine -- 1,000 HP W16 engine (essentially two narrow-angle V8s combined)

Anyone see the video of that accident where a guy got distracted by a pelican, dropped his cell phone, leaned over to pick it up -- and put his 7-figure sports car into the water?

Bugatti Goes into the Water!

Click here to watch the Veyron race a fighter jet.

Of all the cars I've ever driven, one of the most fun is the Tesla Roadster:

288HP electric motor, 53 kWh li-ion battery pack, 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds, SS quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds.

It's so quiet you can't even tell it's running when you start the motor, and you hear only a slight whine during full-throttle acceleration. It's just amazing! Incredible torque (characteristic of an electric motor) and it handles like an Acura NSX.

This is a high performance sports car you can drive on summer ozone action days without further fucking up the city's air quality!
