Reagan became President when he was 69 and he was one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, to win election for the first time.

One of the key talking points of the Democrats in 1980 was that Reagan was too old to be President at age 69. How are they going to walk that back in 2016 if Hillary is running?

Like it or not, we vote for candidates based in large part on personal appeal, including looks. Abraham Lincoln could NEVER get elected to national office nowadays. He'd be stuck in the Illinois state legislature. And we are even harsher to women than to men.

In 2016, there will be no Democratic incumbent, so all the 40 something and early 50 something hotshots in the Democratic party are going to be chomping at the bit to get there turn at the tilie. Including Hispanics and women who are also going to want to be Presidential "firsts", like Obama. Do you think they are going to show any deference to Hillary?

Wait until we get to run with a reasonably good economy in 2016 and y'all nominate a nut like Paul Ryan. You'll get beat like a rented mule. (2-3% fewer white voters then, remember! And 2-3 % fewer the cycle after that, etc. it just keeps getting better and better for us!!)

Since you asked I'll give it a shot but first I have to comment that most of the posters on here have not got a friggin' clue as to why Obama won and Romney lost.

The reason is all demographics. Romney captured the largest percentage of white male voters ever recorded, he lost because he ran out of them. For Hispanic voters Obama captured 75% of their votes while Romney could only muster 23%. The Republican party chose to ignore findings that a large percentage of Hispanics know or are related to someone here in the country illegally. When the Republican party started to wage war on illegal Hispanics that basically lost the election.

The Republican party catered to white males and totally ignored the fact that the US is now extremely diverse with a very large population of other cultures, religions and races. By limiting their appeal to rich, white males they sealed their fate. If you don't believe me go look it up. Google it if you like and then come back and try to dispute it.

The Republican Party, he said, “will be doomed if they lose black and Latino votes by these same margins in the future.”

What if it is not? In fact, forget 2016. What if in 2014 it is still dragging and we are still piling up more debt? Bush was largely responsible for the crash in 2008. But after 6 years, the electorate will be justified in thinking things should be better by now.

What if there is a repeat of 2010 midterms? The GOP already has the House and the Dems have a much slimmer majority in the Senate than they had in 2010. The GOP could lock up both Houses.

And if the economy is still bad in 2016? The GOP probably could run a nut like Paul Ryan and WIN. That's the scary part.

At that point, relying on more Hispanics and less whites won't save you, because Latinos will abandon the Dems, too. If Bush could get 40% of them, another Republican can get even more of them if the economy sucks.

The black vote is hopeless. But no one else.
