Good issue to discuss rationally if possible ( rarely done). The thing I would be curious to hear opinions on is the idea that it does not matter what the rest of us do if the 2 biggest population centers ( India & China) continue to lead with the worst pollution behavior. True or not ? If true we are f’d because they both do what they want and could care less about “ the team”.

Exactly.
Regardless of what anyone does, it's clearly time to go out and find another planet to completely consume. Then another.

we're the second biggest polluter after China, so what we do matters. also, we can negotiate binding bilateral treaties with China and India.
i'm in favor of a carbon tax. first, because it goes right to the problem. second, it incentivizes use of EVs and alternative energy sources. third, we can use it to get our deficit to zero and start paying off our debt. our debt situation is as dire as our climate situation.

I'm soooo scared! where is al gore to save us? And maybe the same government that inserts us in all these needless wars, can't coordinate a hurricane rescue, and gave us 35 trillion in debt can find a way out of this "climate change/ice age/global warming" if only we pay wayyyyy more in taxes! sounds like a good deal to me! where do i sign up?

^^well at least we both agree that our debt situation is a clusterfuck..
the rule is, in good times you pay off your debt and put aside some funds for a rainy day. out present rule is, just put it on my tab..
if we can't fix ourselves, eventually the markets will do it for us, and it won't be pretty..

It's definitely been going on for many years: we're just now realizing how significant it really is. The deniers (top 10%) are the primary contributors to pollution in the US. I live in Costa Rica most of the year and the entire country has recycle bins throughout all the cities (not only select locations).
In addition, 99% of the business will only provide you with a recyclable bag and restaurants only offer paper straws. Now if we could get the rest of the world to follow suit, we could help minimize additional impact. I definitely think we've passed the ability to reverse it though. I feel for future generations who will suffer the most and more than what we're suffering now.

The bigger issue than so called global warming, climate change is the idiot politicians pushing the matter.

Personally, I drive an EV and recycle...but recognize the propaganda spewing out of the climate change alarmists in our government, including government funded scientists, is without merit and intended to increase taxation, and therefore government control and power.
See through the smoke.

This isn’t about politicians. Has your home insurance tripled over the last three years? I’m in the insurance industry and global warming is real. Politicians use anything to get elected, so your statement applies to every agenda they try to push. Lol

I will worry when banks stop loaning money for property 2 feet above sea level. I will worry even more if John Kerry sells his estate that sits 2 feet above sea level.
