It seems we all dance around the reality of the situation.

Since this is a SHMB, at least let's all be honest.

Women that sell pussy are whores, and guys that buy pussy are tricks.
We can sanitize it all up by calling the whores "escorts" and the tricks "hobbyist", but we are fooling nobody but ourselves.

That is why I do not think terms such as whore and hooker are derogatory. I also do not thing the terms trick or john in referring to the guys are either. Why? Because we choose this life and should be willing to accept the basic realities of the situation.

Hiding behind sanitized definitions does not change the fact that I am a trick, because I like store bought pussy, and the gal selling it to me is a whore.

Now, to your question. In the real world, the term whore is meant to be derogatory. If a man calls a woman who is not a prostitute a whore, he is meaning to demean her. He is not saying she sells pussy, he is saying she is no better than a woman that does.

But how bad is that? We have all heard the old saying that there is no such thing as free pussy, and the mid American housewife is selling pussy to her husband, she just takes the payment in a different manner.

The thing that amazes me is that in the year 2013, our laws are still hung up on things that adults want to do in the privacy of their own being.

For anyone who might be interested in learning more about writing and assessing arguments, I highly suggest the following book:

Jackie, if you read the threads that led up to this discussion, you'll see that it was LD's argument that the word whore isn't pejorative, and therefor for any of the women in the calendar to have taken to exception to it is hypocritical folly. Not only should they not have taken exception to being called a whore, they should not take acceptation to LD attacking THEM when what she really wanted to do, but can never quite make the shit stick, is attack Still Looking. According to LD and a few other malfeasants, there should be no reason to not use it liberally and often - especially when we are throwing a fit because we are angry at someone that is out of our reach.

You know I have no qualms about using the word, but I also know when to use it and not use it. And let's face it, I use it for the shock factor and to take the wind out of some of our more misogynist member's sails. My blog and my thread pretty much say it all. But that's not what all the who-ha is about. It's about LD lashing out at women that have done nothing to her using one of THE most socially distasteful words to describe women because she was mad at Still Looking. Then thank you very much, because she was mad at me, she tore into another woman doing her all to destroy the other woman's reputation and business. Thank God the Houston mods at least stopped that direction of her rage.

I have 2 viewpoints on the word, "whore".

First, for me, I find the term offensive. It's probably an age thing but I don't think that's the whole of it. I'm open minded enough, and try to think critically, especially when it comes to linguistics. My thoughts on the word, and it's usage, hasn't changed even after reading a few (recent) topics on it.

Even when a lover has said to me, in an affectionate fashion, "You're a dirty little whore, aren't you?" ... I'll go with it, but I don't like it. It's never come across as just a naughty little diddly to say to a woman in bed. It's not a pretty thing to say at all. It's degrading.

I've rarely seen the word used, appropriately, to mean anything but something in the negative.

However, and this is a big "but", there are women who use the word as a source of personal empowerment. "Whore Power" is what I'm seeing a lot of and many in sex worker activism are trying to change what the word ultimately means.

A magazine came out a few years back, "Whore", and it's a great publication (very glossy and provocative) that celebrates the word and focuses on the positive of sex workers, etc.

However, back to the original meaning, I don't like it. I'm very open to trying to accept it in the newer context. It's going to take decades, if at all, for the word to morph into a less hostile meaning.

I sincerely do NOT believe that when men, and women, on this board use the word "whore" that it's being used in a sex positive fashion. Again, I've been reading some of these topics concerning the word.

I disagree with the whole premise of the word and the arguments that others are getting into regarding it. It's not a good word to use when describing others. I'm more than "just a whore". Everyone is.

The word itself is very base and to use it towards someone, is humiliating and can be exceptionally hurtful.

Someone suggested that by the word being bothersome, it's giving the word too much power. What Dr. Phil/Oprah crap are you watching on a regular basis?

Words have power. Sure. Am I a bitch, like others have tried to compare the word "whore" to? I just don't believe that the 2 words can actually be compared.

In the end, if we're trying to figure out the etymology of the word itself and attempt to philosophically deconstruct the term, I'm too far out of school and my study of philosophy to try to figure that out.

I just know, for me, that each time I read the word in the general context of it being used on this board, I generally find it to be used in a debasing fashion.

It's certainly not promoting a positive image for the ladies here on this board. Or I haven't seen it.

To coddle up to others who use the word freely, and seem to always have a malicious intent while doing so, shouldn't be rewarded by saying, "Yeah".

They should be ignored and thought less of. People who justify overt rudeness don't deserve my time of day.

I do not see a time, in my near future, where I would be describing myself in such a fashion. Never.

I will respect, though, others rights to use the word and also, use the word to describe themselves. Good luck and all the best to those others who just adore the word and feel an affinity towards it. I'm glad that so many are able to see past the base intent of the meaning. Guess that I cannot.

Best,
Elisabeth

Then pick a different word. Why whore? There are like a million words to describe prostitutes that aren't inflammatory and meant to inflict the maximum pain: hooker, prostitute, slut, streetwalker, courtesan, provider, escort, pro, call girl, party girl, harlot (I like that one), fallen woman, working girl (I use that one a lot) lady of the evening, tramp............there's probably so more.

Basically we discussing how many "whores" can dance on the head of a pin because LD wanted to throw a fit because she can't get to Still Looking and her malfeasant handlers moved in to encourage her. Still Looking's above her reach and she fucking knows it so she attacks his "work" and the women he chose in a most vicious manner. That is literally the long and the short of it.

Didn't see you post when I submitted this one Elisabeth. Great post. Hopefully I'll be the first of many Likes.

My guess is the reaction is anywhere to the treat of violence to violence depending on the lateness of the hour, whether you are in side or outside and how much alcohol everyone's had to drink.

No, what I'm saying is...you're reading too much into this bullshit

If the word slut or whore or bitch is thrown around with my family the women and/or men using it don't take it to heart...

Call it bullshit all you want, but you're posting about how you "THINK" it might be, but I'm the one that "KNOWS" how it is

There are no Christmas dinner table or "heated discussions" about the the word slut or whore in my family. Your guess about "reactions" would be wrong as well....

And your mama? You call her a slut or a whore too? You know jokin' around and shit. How about your wife / SO / girlfriend which ever you have / had. Did you call her / them slut/s or whore/s, you know, just joking around and shit? And what was her / their reaction to your jest? Or, provided you called them either or both of those words, was it in a fight? And if so, did the fight escalate? I'm just askin'......................Ke epin' it real and shit................

Mama, no...

Wife/SO/GF, yes....both joking and in a fight. I tend to date STRONG women so me calling them ANY name other than their given name in a fight isn't going to piss them off. They would just come right back at me with something

..........Just so you know not answering is admitting the following: You don't call your mama a whore or a slut. You don't joke around with your romantic interests by calling them whores or sluts. You don't call other men's daughters - of all ages, wives or mamas whores or sluts. And if you ever called them - any of them - a whore or a slut, you did so in anger....................and I'll bet the fight spiraled to shit from there if you did.

Well, if my mama ever sold some pussy back in the day to feed or clothe me then yeah...she was a whore, and I still love her

Yes, I do joke around with romantic interest calling them..."my lil slut"

Yes, I'm sure some of the whores I've fucked on the board are wives and mama's so...I've called them whores and sluts too

And YES, I have called "any of them" a whore or slut or bitch..."in anger". So, if a fight did break out, it didn't spiral into shit just because I used a "WORD"

GEEZUS OH, you really are ate up with this shit

DeD, two things: One, do you call your gf's you little slut in front of others? And two, you're dancing around the subject. Do you or do you not call your mama a whore? And do you or do you not call other men's women, mamas and daughters - of all ages whores in front of them? And if so, what is the consequence/s? Thank you, Elizabeth. Finally, a cogent argument on the subject! I do agree with your comments.

Of course, I don't like the word when used AS a pejorative. I don't mind using it to describe my personal situation because, quite frankly, it's one of the only words that I feel fit in the technical sense.

We all have our opinions, and I particularly enjoy you sharing yours without resorting to personal attacks and insults.

I, personally, take GREAT offense to being called a BITCH, mostly because I take such great care in my real life to treat everyone with kindness and respect. The handful of times I've been called a bitch. It's really been hurtful.

Take care and thanks, again!

xoxo,
LMx

No this is what you said:

Mama, no...

Well, if my mama ever sold some pussy back in the day to feed or clothe me then yeah...she was a whore, and I still love her

Without the justification, why wouldn't you call your mama a whore.

You didn't answer my question in red or any other color. The question is DO YOU CALL OTHER MEN'S WOMEN, MAMAS AND DAUGTERS - OF ANY AGE WHORES IN FRONT OF THEM. AND OF SO, WHAT ARE THE CONSIQUESNCE/S - In other words how long did it take the man you just dog cussed his females to bow up or the other men standing around to look away because they are too embarrassed to look at such a weak man that would put up with that shit. Just answer the question! Because this..............

Yes, I'm sure some of the whores I've fucked on the board are wives and mama's so...I've called them whores and sluts too

..............is mental masturbation.

Luxury Daphne, if you wanna call yourself a whore than I'm sure all your clients will gladly agree with you. Frankly, I am a little bit older and wiser and have learned a thing or two about men. I didn't start off on this board, I just use it to glean wisdom and insight.

You'll get a lot further ahead in life by keeping your self respect and respect for others intact. Personally, I have accomplished waaay more with my life than simply regulating my identity to a mere "whore". You may not find it from the posters on here or elsewhere on the internet, but it is a well known fact that men are drawn to seek paid companionship from women based upon unfulfilled needs that are far deeper than anonymous sex.

People will treat you exactly the way you allow them to treat you. You don't offend me at all, I just feel that I understand something that many other's do not and my happy life is a direct effect of my efforts. You get out of life and your relationships what you put in. It's not whats on the outside it's what is in the mindset that manifests into one's personality and lifestyle.

I wish you all out there the best and happy new year! I think if anyone deserves to be called a whore it's our current members of congress and senate~
