Hmm democrats count on the lazy vote that didn't show up to the last election? Anyway, interesting speech on topics he should of got through when dems had congress? My opinion, ACA is a failure, and needs repeal. just making everyone get insurance only makes for bigger profits and less benefit for the middle class. I am glad republicans won the congress, as I don't like the l liberal social agenda. Concerning free ed, we already have plenty of programs for the disadvantaged. But i do like to hear about infrastructure improvements to keep US businesses on the cutting edge.

Let's talk this through in an unpolarized fashion.
I support a universal health system as do most Americans. What's the best way to implement this?
The number of Ed programs are immaterial, I think our entire education system is inadequate. How do we teach and test for comprehension? How do we address the teacher's union that have use tenure, originally designed to protect university researchers, as a guaranteed pay check regardless of performance?
Infrastructure improvements.. hmm, what type of infrastructure are you referring to? I agree that there may be a lot of opportunities there.
Thoughts?

Access to universal health care and being forced to buy health care insurance are different discussions.
I see many current flaws to current ACA. Low income, and middle income people can only afford high deductible plans. The only benefit is that your insurer dictates how much health care professionals can charge their clients. With my employer, I only have one choice, and I am penalized if I say I want to use another plan. ACA does not fix this.
ACA does not fix the problem that hospitals overcharge uninsured. I hate the idea of regulation, but the same procedure should cost the same no matter who u are, and the type of insurance each person gets says what they pay out of pocket, and should be more like collision insurance with our autos.
I average about $1k a year in medical expenses, but I pay in about $5k from my payroll for the benefit of getting a hospital bill.
To me, the reform should come in fair billing.
Education, public schools are so-so but vary on locale. I have several rugrats, and the education system is what they make it and they have great teachers. College and higher ed, opportunities are there based on personal drive, and there is tons of aid available for low income, and scholarships for high performers. A free education will be taken for granted, and diluted to non value. I would support business to send people for higher education, and business can tax credits or some other benefit.
The infrastructure obama was referring to is broadband in more places. And probably anti- monopoly strategies on the internet.

All you guys are just doing a slow burn over the fact that in the last 6 years we haven't had a terrorist attack on the scale of 9/11.....or started a $2 Trillion war over reasons that didn't exist.....or watched over 1000 people die in a hurricane.....or suffered through the worst financial collapse in over 75 years.
Aintcha?

Agreed. I feel the same way about auto insurance and hone owners insurance though. If I had to pick though I'd go with health care and hope to benefit from the economy of scale.

Socialism and capitalism have bother been shown to fail. We need a hybrid where we regulate quality of life critical
commodities and services (medical / dental / vision) and let the free market reign on non critical commodit is and services.

I'm talking education methodologies and access rather than cost. Regardless of the cost we seldom seem to teach for comprehension. Teachers asseas you on what you do at a moment and not what you know long term. Our system is 200 years old and hasn't evloved at all. It's a shame.

Ah.. I saw that and thought you had some other ideas. I'm not sure how high speed Internet will help us maintain a strategic competitive advantage.
One a separate point.. I'm a little annoyed at the push to flood the market with oil to screw with our shale business prosperity. I think we need to impose 200% tariff on those oil imports.. but that'll likely start a trade war.

One thing considering education any money spent. Almost all the local schools were given lots of tax payer money to build pretty performing art centers, which is nice, but then look at the local boxes, and the all dated equipment they have to teach trades.

Concerning Obamas antiwar on terror, worldwide terrorism, and extremism is only increasing. The repercussions are being felt all over north Africa because Obama choose to help bring down Kadafi. It caused increased extrenism all throughout north africa, and humanitarian programs left north africa, as well as cancellations of hospitol building programs from Mali to the horn of africa.
And now we have sent gitmo terrorists to Yeman? And their government is being attacked, go figure. I want a strong America. We ain't got it now.
Plus, they did weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and it was not release. That is because it was American entities that supplied them in the war with Iran.
Remember when Obama wanted to help the rebels in Syria? Just think, if he could have, he would have ended up helping ISIS. Obama is always on the wrong side l. His foriegn policy strategy is one only an anarchist would be happy with.

jc, that's a joke aimed at the republicans as they have had members in congress blame Obama for weather and storms in the past.
Both parties have their own agendas and don't give a shit about any of us.
You guys need to realize it don't matter whos in charge they don't give a fuck about any of us and they will say or do anything to take our money and win an election and then funnel it to their special interest groups.
We need some reform in a big way but our generation is too weak to step up and do it, mayb e the next one will
on we go
