Check out Frys.com if you are looking for a desktop often times they sell nice desktop that is nicely spec'ed out for around 400 Laptops you can get a decent model for 250 that will suffice for general use (aka no gaming)

Been running XP with Avast and Malware Bytes...no problems. Use Carbonite to back up everything, just in case. Very stable so far. My PC is a 6 year old HP, use Chrome for internet.

Been running XP with IE7 and using Total Defense security suite plus Malware Bytes. My PC is a Dell Dimension 8300 and has to be well over 10 years old.

XP is not dead and MS is still doing security updates for it. It requires a slight registry hack and it will now look like a point of sale computer vs a PC

Just clone your hard drive and download the updates and you should be good to go for a while and includes security updates until 2019

I user "CloneZilla" (you laugh but I have done over 100 pc's with it.)

once the new drive is done, you pop it into the machine, boot up..let run a while, do some reboots and all is done
no reg hacking needed.

I am currently looking to lighten up xp as much as possible. Has anyone done something like this?

I have been testing Maxthon browser and I seem to like it..

I need to bust this laptop open and max the memory and drop in a small SSD Hdd.
