Russia learned their lesson. The U.S FINALLY learned their lesson. You can't win a war in Afghanistan. 20 years there and almost nothing gained. Why would we be stupid enough to repeat that disaster?

It had to be a tough war, language barrier. Your enemy and "friendly" looking like the same goat herder. Mountainous terrain makes mobility and moving heavy equipment hard or near impossible.

We aren't going back just for the fun of it. Not without some sort of "we do this and we win" strategy. 20 years proved that war isn't winnable. Sure we took out some top leadership, but this just emboldens their hate for the west.

I don't see any reason for us to go there at this time. mainly because the taliban is fighting isis. they're encroaching on their territory which the taliban find very unwelcome.

There were many moving parts in the exit. Troop draw down, then we upped it back to 7000 for security. We had a hard exit date and it was met. Like I said it wasn't perfect. Afghan people suck cause they wouldn't fight, they get what they deserve. We spent billions training and arming them, and they let the Taliban have it all. We are done with that shit hole. Sucks what that bomber did, it was a time of war though and people die. In the 2+ years past how many more than 13 would have died over there? Probably a lot more. So in leaving loss of life of US soldiers is most likely a lot less than the 13.

I still say Trump had a hand in that bombing, it is a big enough piece of shit to do it. He hates the military to him they are all losers.

It may vary well be that we should have gotten out earlier, and in a more tactically sound fashion, but military historians fifty years from now will uniformly describe our withdrawal from Afghanistan as it was implemented to be a debacle.
