I saw Deep Throat at a theater with a girlfriend who had no idea what it was about. At the time, it was treated almost like a mainstream flick. I think that was '72 or '73. I'm too lazy to look it up.
Actually , it was funnier than it was erotic. I always remember one line where she says It's not funny, how would you like it if your balls were in your ear. The answer from Harry Reams was, well, then I could hear myself cumming. or something close to that.

Her case is interesting. She did publish book that claimed that her 'manager' (Chuck Traynor, if memory serves) basically got her addicted & forced into porn against her will. For several years, she was the poster person for anti-porn forces, especially feminists. Later the word was that the book itself was exaggerated, done as much for money as anything she'd done previously.
Whatever the truth is, let's hope nobody is hobbying against their will, out of necessity. But I think we all know better.
But, to return to the original (um) thrust of this thread. I have to say that I've always felt that deep throating was overrated. I enjoy it, a LOT, make no mistake. But to me it's not in any way essential to a top flight BJ.
